I love coffee, but this beer is a bit overboard. Appearance and aroma not so bad, but the coffee overwhelms and lingers with a bitter finish.

Pours dark mahogany with creamy head. Smells heavily of coffee. Medium body, medium palate. Coffee dominates the aftertaste, which comes off bitter and a little sour. Ok. Bottle.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2013 12 oz bottle served in a snifter. Pours a deep reddish-brown, clear with a tan head of modest size and durability. Coffee aroma over dark malt. Bittersweet, turning more bitter from start to finish, with a moderately bitter, expresso aftertaste. Some vanilla up front. Light-medium body seems too thin. O: good and organic, but not up with relatively low-priced Kona Pipeline Porter let alone some more expensive alternatives.

Strong coffee taste with a hint of chocolate. Thick and stays with the palate. Dark but i could drink this in the am. Draft

Tap at Iron Horse. Clear deep black with ruby highlights. Little to no head. Nose is heavy hazelnut coffee. Taste is similar: richer, dense, extremely coffee forward. I like. A nice surprise.

Great organic porter here. Dark brown color with thin beige head and minimal lace. Smell is more subtle than the taste. Mostly dark roasted coffee, roasted malt, hops, oak, and barley.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with relatively little head on it. Nose has some very strong coffee notes to it, as you would suggest. Feels and looks very thick and goes down smoothly. Great brew.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a thick, rocky, tan head that hangs around a bit. The aroma is very roasty with some cocoa and coffee. The taste is nice and coffee forward with a little chocolate backbone. A little watery..

12 oz bottle from Baruni’s in Baden, PA. Disappointing, very thin and weak in body and taste. Why do organics often fall short of the mark?

12 ounce bottle, 102412 stamped on the bottle, not sure if it’s a bottled on or best by date. I don’t care, I’m drinking it anyway. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention is very good, and there’s a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, it smells mostly like coffee and roasted malt, along with some bittersweet chocolate and vanilla. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but the coffee flavor is more of a sweet roasted flavor (because of the vanilla) than a bitter roasty one. I like it because the coffee is definitely noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, but I think it fits the style well since it’s a porter and not a stronger stout. It’s also very smooth and goes down easy enough. $8.99 a 6-pack? Yeah, I’ll be buying this again.
