3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Deep brown body. Tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, vanilla, cream, sugar, chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of coffee and cream with seven teaspoons of sugar. Easy drinking, but too sweet and too thin. Aroma is nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Nose rich in robust, silky coffee, dark with sultry chocolate underpinnings. Mocha and not much roast. Pours deep dark brown that blocks about 80% of admitted light, supports a lacing and rocky tan head. Fat medium body is too sweet, fruity with abundant berry, little bitterness; coffee is smooth but fades away, no real roast, but the chocolate and smooth feel are nice. No vanilla to my taste, wouldn’t even have guessed it if not for the label. Pleasant but ultimately a little plain.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12/1/13 $1.99 bottle from RW while watching the fall finale of TWD on a Sunday.
Very dark brown with tan head with medium lacing.
Smells like fresh ground coffee. Taste is coffee right off the bat that got even stronger as it warmed slight vanilla and chocolate. Medium body with a fizzy carbonation. All in all I've had better and have had worse

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep black with a slickness. Aroma of chocolate and roast coffee. Taste is milk chocolate sweet up front with a touch of roast coffee followed by a subtle hop presence. Very drinkable if not run-of-the-mill. Not usually into Porters, but I would drink this.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer captures my ideal coffee porter aroma to perfection. The vanilla is detectable, but far more subtle. The flavor follows suit, but fails a little as a touch of harsh bitterness from something like the coffee or dark malts outweighs any sense of sweetness. Likewise, the thin-ish palate suffers as an impulse develops to re-taste the beer to wash away the finish. All in all, I did enjoy the beer, but I think there’s a need to intentionally sweeten with something like lactose or soften the bitterness added by the coffee.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled October 10, 2013 (~1 month old).
Appearance: The body appears a deep chestnut until viewed through the light where I see a hazy garnet body. The head is tall and fluffy, very slowly dissipating unevenly into a very dense tan coating.
Aroma: The aroma is dominated by earthy freshly roasted coffee. While the coffee is strong and the aroma one-dimensional, I don’t find it overly coffee, in-fact it’s got a perfect strength to me.
Taste: The intro is muddy, covering up the roasted coffee with a light vanilla and bready presence. The roasted coffee comes through towards the mid-taste though with a good presence, not overbearing in the least. The finish lingers with some bitter roasted coffee.
Palate: The palate is a bit watery with light carbonation. Not a fan of this.
Overall: If the flavor matched the aroma then I would be in heaven. Unfortunately the body and the flavor really throw me off on loving this. I feel that this is a solid coffee porter, but it borders on being great and that bothers me. I’ll give this a try next year, maybe there was a production error this year.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured a deep dark brown out of bottle into snifter. A one inch tan creamy head that disappeared quickly leaving a thin tan ring on the outside of the glass. No lacing. Aroma is very complex with notes of chocolate, malt, coffee and vanilla. Taste is just as complex with coffee weighing in heaviest. Also subtle notes of chocolate and vanilla. Sweet with just a bit of bitterness to balance. Thin mouthfeel was only drawback. Just the right amount of carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

12 oz bottle.
USDA Organic and coming from one of the best breweries in New England. A wonderful, alluring aroma. Vanilla touch in what I consider the best Coffee flavored beer that I have tasted yet. Finishes well. A solid hit. I love porters and this has a nice twist.
