3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark brown color with a thin head that fades quickly to a few persistent wisps. Looks much like coffee, actually. Big coffee aroma. Sweet with some chocolate as well. Taste is vanilla, tea, coffee, nuts and faint roastiness. Blends well. Medium bodied. Smooth with fairly strong carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Looks like coffee, smells like coffee, tastes like coffee. That pretty much sums it up, but as far as a porter goes, at 5% itís thinner than I like and I could use more complexity in the aroma and taste. As it is, itís pretty much a coffee bomb, good coffee, but a bit one dimensional.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Greeted by a strong, inviting coffee aroma, darkest brown body that blends with a chocolate and light vanilla flavor. With all the strong aromas the end result this porterís body was lighter than I expected.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Deep brown body. Tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, vanilla, cream, sugar, chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of coffee and cream with seven teaspoons of sugar. Easy drinking, but too sweet and too thin. Aroma is nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Nose rich in robust, silky coffee, dark with sultry chocolate underpinnings. Mocha and not much roast. Pours deep dark brown that blocks about 80% of admitted light, supports a lacing and rocky tan head. Fat medium body is too sweet, fruity with abundant berry, little bitterness; coffee is smooth but fades away, no real roast, but the chocolate and smooth feel are nice. No vanilla to my taste, wouldnít even have guessed it if not for the label. Pleasant but ultimately a little plain.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12/1/13 $1.99 bottle from RW while watching the fall finale of TWD on a Sunday.
Very dark brown with tan head with medium lacing.
Smells like fresh ground coffee. Taste is coffee right off the bat that got even stronger as it warmed slight vanilla and chocolate. Medium body with a fizzy carbonation. All in all I've had better and have had worse

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep black with a slickness. Aroma of chocolate and roast coffee. Taste is milk chocolate sweet up front with a touch of roast coffee followed by a subtle hop presence. Very drinkable if not run-of-the-mill. Not usually into Porters, but I would drink this.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer captures my ideal coffee porter aroma to perfection. The vanilla is detectable, but far more subtle. The flavor follows suit, but fails a little as a touch of harsh bitterness from something like the coffee or dark malts outweighs any sense of sweetness. Likewise, the thin-ish palate suffers as an impulse develops to re-taste the beer to wash away the finish. All in all, I did enjoy the beer, but I think thereís a need to intentionally sweeten with something like lactose or soften the bitterness added by the coffee.
