3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Presentation: It was poured from tap at the Buffalo Brew Pub and served in a standard pint glass.
Appearance: The body has a very dark brown look with some lighter dark amber/light brown high lights coming through the glass. Visibility is good and the beer is topped off with a small light tan head that fades quickly leaving just a light ring of foam. This makes very minimal slick lacing.
Smell: This is the highlight of the beer. It has lots of wonderful roaster coffee notes in the nose with some milder dark chocolate and dark maltiness for backup.
Taste/Palate: The flavor is more subtle and brings a light medium bodied roasted coffee flavor and dark maltiness to the palate. It has a good balance and pleasant bitterness with some mild dark chocolate and mild hops in the background. On the tongue there is mild carbonation which gives it a very smooth, creamy and mostly slick feel.
Notes: Overall it is a good average Porter with a great aroma and easy drinkability.

From 12oz bottle, poured into shaker pint glass
Aroma: coffee, roasty, smooth
Appearance: black, clear, tan foam,
Taste; lightly bitter, medium sweetness,
Palate: full body, sticky, creamy, average carbonation, bitter,
Overall: A great coffee porter. Canít believe I hadnít rated this one. I picked up one of the last 6-packs on the shelves of the last distribution after the brand ceased operations earlier this year. A solid coffee beer thatís been consistent and consistently good each year. Iíll miss this beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pretty enjoyable overall but doesnít do anything to really stand out. Roasted coffee and chocolate aroma, light/medium body with smooth mouth feel. Taste follows nose, coffee and chocolate with subtle hints of vanilla.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours almost black but with beautiful garnet tones when held to the light. A medium beige head lasts long enough to provide some lacing and minor skim.
Big whiff of dark roast coffee followed by rougher cocoa nibs. After a few minutes aeration, the flavor smooths out with coffee, dark chocolate and just a hint of vanilla.
Not tremendously complex, but the light-medium body and almost creamy texture make for an enjoyable glass. Sorry to see this one go.

12oz bottle. Not as dark in the glass as expected. Aromas of roast coffee and sweet ( not bitter) cocoa. All the elements are there. But something is missing. Coffee, cocoa, vanilla. Nothing too highlight. Not a bad beer, but also not a great one either.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Couple sample glasses at Maple Leaf Tavern in Wilmington, VT.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a concave film of lacing around the glass.
The smell had sweet and roasty smooth coffee beans over top of delicate sweet cocoa powder.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors and lead to a nice rich sweet aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing a silky texture all about.
Overall, what a wonderful coffee porter. Too bad, itís getting retired. Oh well.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from 12 oz. bottle after cellaring for a year.
Opaque, black-brown with a thin khaki head and fair lacing.
Aroma of intense roasted coffee, dark chocolate and dark toast.
Taste of strong black roasted coffee, dark chocolate, oak, toast and sweet roasted malt.
Medium/light body high/medium carbonization.
I thought the cellaring might have mellowed the strong dark coffee element, but it doesn't seem to have had much affect. Still a good beer, even if it would benefit from better balance.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beautiful pour & great mouthfeel w/ a decent taste. Love the dark pour w/ a big tan head & lacing. Aroma is slightly roasty. Taste is a touch thin but has hints of coffee. Not quite enough bitterness or complexity to make it great but itís highly drinkable & overall a very solid beer!

Not the best coffee porter that ever existed but for an odd man out it was good enough to drink if handed to me. Bottle.
