junon (131), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Jun 5, 2008 Nice. I didnt think Id be able to pick up any cherry but there definitely is a faint amount. Doesnt pour quite as dark as others but packs tons of a flavor. Kind of pricey though.
Boutip (1745), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Aug 20, 2008 Bottle: Poured a light copper color ale with a nice of-white foamy head with good retention and no lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt is surprising and quite enjoyable. Taste is a mix between some deep caramel malt with some light toffee notes and no discernable hops presence. I wasn’t expecting much for this one but I was quite surprise – the grain bill was perfect and quite dominant or more so then most beer form this sometime boring style. Ron (737), Rochester, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 2008 Flour City Brewfest. Nutty aroma. Very dark copper color, not exactly brown. Thick creamy head. Nicely balanced chocolate and hops. Weak finish. DrDavid (115), , Vermont, USA Aug 15, 2008 (Bottle). Slightly fruity aroma. Dark red brown in color with a very small quickly disappearing tan head. Definite cherry tang to an otherwise indistinct maltish flavor. Inoffensive, but mostly unimpressive brown ale. nimbleprop (570), Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 13, 2008 Have had this many times, it’s one of my favorite session beers but I’ve never had a chance to rate it before now. Actually had this on tap at Chef Geoff’s Downtown in Washington D.C. Served in a pint glass with a thin, ringing slightly beige head and a deep, maple brown translucent body. Aroma is fairly standard, nutty, grainy, brown sugar, caramel, and maybe a touch or orange peel. Flavor is very nice, crunchy roasted nuts, dark brown bread, caramel chews and more orange peel. Finish is dry but light and slightly sweet. Great session beer, great dinner beer. Won’t knock your socks off but a pleaser for any occasion. EithCubes (1796), Indiana, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bottle. Dusty dry nose, earthy toffee and nuts with light brown sugar. Wood and light hop funk. Deep amber with a short-lived tan head. Watery body is lightly dry, lightly sweet, lightly bitter, earthy malt with a strong vein of nuttiness. Very light touches of caramel and dark chocolate, with a classic Hallertauer profile. Yum! Lastingly crisp and satisfying, a pleasant little surprise. Great for style.
