COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep amber ale with rich and smooth flavor. Malty undertones of vanilla and caramel are kept in check with the addition of magnum, golding and fuggles hops.

Bottle. Poured a hazy medium brown with an average sized light tan frothy head that was mostly diminishing and had poor lacing. The aroma was of toasted caramel malts, resin hops and a mild earthy yeast with a mild hint of coffee. It tasted kind of mild with a sweet coffee flavor at first the became a little bitter and slightly hoppy at the end. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and watery in texture with a very soft carbonation. Overall a somewhat tasty brew but lacking for the style. Not sure if being an organic brew had anything to do with the lack of flavor but I am sure it did not help.

"creamy and luscious it is not (as the brewer states). it’s an ok beer that has all the aroma and flavor expected of your average brown ale. just nothing special."

Appearance is more amber like a dark IPA than a brown. Aroma is malt, oak, nut, wheat. Taste is the same. Dank oak and nut. Bitter on the end.

Bottle - 341ml. Nice amber body with a thin, off-white foamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar and honeyish hints. Its decent malty/hoppy taste carries woody notes. Ends with a good bittersweet finish.

Bottle at home from early backlog notes 07. Pours a clear brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel malt, nuts, light toast with mild earthy bitterness. The aroma was fairly light even with warming. Nothing more than a basic brown.

Amber and hazy appearance with some foam that disappeared quickly. Mild amount of lacing. Very hoppy smell. Bitter and hoppy taste with some caramel undertones. I wasn’t getting much vanilla. Not much aftertaste. Mouthfeel is smooth and thin. Not too much carbonation. Overall a decent beer.

Drought. Dark amber with very small foamy beige head, doughy aroma, low carbonation, slightly bittewr taste. Medium finish with a little bitter aftertaste. Not very remarkable.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a copper/red, slightly brown colored body and leaves a nice off-white two finger foamy head that lasts for a good two minutes. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. Some minimal spotty lacing is seen here and there. The smell has some grainy nuttiness backed up with some slight malty breadiness. The taste has pretty much the same smells in the flavoring. The palate sits about a medium with some slight harshness on the tongue. The aftetaste is dry. I would say this is fairly drinkable. Overall, as much as I like browns, this one hmmm. . . I kinda don’t think I’d come back to. Why? Well, probably because there are too many other browns that I enjoy more. Its just another average brown.

Moderate carbonation with this, didn’t pick much up through the aroma, at least not the caramel or malt I was hoping for. The carbonation lingers on the tongue leaving behind bitterness. Not the brown ale I was wishing for.

Bottle. Pours dark amber, not brown. I smell almost nothing, only the very lightest hint of malt. Taste follows the smell. I got nothing here. I hate to rate it so low when it doesn’t do anything really wrong, but there’s just nothing good to say. Maybe the bottle was past its prime. It has a date of 090613 on it, hopefully that isn’t an expiration date.
