Brewed with over 200 pounds of organic rolled oats in each batch, this smooth-as-silk stout is brimming with darkly roasted malts and rich notes of chocolate and coffee. A mocha-topped, black-as-night body gives way to a surprisingly smooth, full-bodied experience in this unfiltered offering.

Opaque black stout. Palate seems light for a stout. Silky too. Fresh stout. No roasty malt or dryness here. Nor is it bitter. Just mild dark malt/ Somewhat one dimensional but a perfectly serviceable stout.

Copper-brown colour (too light). Metallic, roasty aroma. Thin body. Roast is noted but muted. Like doughnut shop coffee.

Cask at Blind Tiger. Stellar beer. Poured a luscious black with a thick tan head. Nose of roasty malts and some light cocoa and coffee. Flavor was tight, mostly roasted malts with some great vanilla notes on the tail. (The casks for Blind Tiger were special in that they had vanilla beans added to them at some point during the brewing process.) Nice, burnt malt finish. Rich flavor without being overbearing on the abv. This would make an extreme sessioner. Cheers.

Aroma of toasted malt and chocolate. The appearance is much like Guiness. Perhaps the head disappears a bit sooner. The start is hard to pin down, but it quickly moves to roasty chocolate, and finishes with that "burnt" malt flavor that used to be found in Guiness some decades ago. A good substantial mouthfeel, very smooth, a bit earthy. I’m very impressed.

Test vom 3.9.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 2,7,10,10,3,9 - 8,00
