Very hoppy indeed, which I notice is common in the organic beers. Good with Thai food.

Amber coloured. Dry, straightforward, but also rather one dimensional, ale.

This doesn’t promise much with the light carmel aroma and a bit of hop dustiness in the nose. There’s a bit of some nut and grain flavors. Yes, it’s a unique brew in a broad category... to me it’s much further from an IPA than a Dortmunder. Them hops are Saazzy. Although this rating looks low in relation to the others, I enjoyed this brew and my rating does put it decidedly above the average beer.

My favorite beer by this fine brewery. Very hoppy and snappy with a great bite in the finish. They should maybe call this IPA.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Much better than their pathetic IPA, this is a good example of an American pale. Very pleasant drinking, with a malty base complimented by a snazzy hop bitterness in the finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very enjoyable pale ale, strong hops and moderate citrus malt flavor. A somewhat bright color, not as dark as most pales.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2003 June 01: I'm not big on bitterness at the end; I like a smooth, clean finish -- pale ales usually aren't my favorites. That said, this is one of the best, with wonderful aroma, gorgeous color, and a rich slightly fruity flavor.
March 03: holds up very well, good caramel malts, excellent balance all the way through with the hops and the sugars both fighting for your attention but not trying to harm your tongue too much. Awesome session beer, the best from this brewery.

Smells wonderful, tastes great. Well-done balance between malt and hops; both stand out. I was concerned that taste might suffer in the effort to be ’organic.’ This was most definitely not the case, as Wolaver’s has produced a fine pale ale.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Regardless of the ’organic’ status, this is one excellent Pale Ale. Amber color with a thin, but persistant head; flowery hop nose; medium body with an ample toasted malt profile; fairly long bittersweet finish. Tends to thin a bit as glass is finished, but a solid ale worth a try.
