COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This pumpkin ale is brewed with organic pumpkins grown by Will and Judy Stevens, of Golden Russet Farm in Shoreham, VT, less than 15 miles away from our brewery. They have been growing organic vegetables and flowers for more than 25 years. Using local, organic ingredients whenever possible and supporting local farmers is just one of the many ways that we strive to minimize our impact on the environment. The subtle flavor of pumpkin and mild notes of spice enhance this golden amber ale, making it a perfect choice for the season. Definitely on the drier side of the pumpkin beers I have had. Lightly tart and fairly spicy. Rather odd, and not entirely appetizing.

Bubbly amber-orange color with a taller beige head. Pumpkin pie scents with a bit of acidity in the background. Not sure if it is the ginger or if there is some something lactic in the there, but only tasting will tell. Light caramel start, middle is lactic, which then turns to spicy. Lots of ginger. Less parts of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. I’m starting to attribute some of the lactic taste to the cloves verses the ginger. Still acidic and biting in feel. Not enough malt depth or sweetness for my liking and the acidity really throws thing off.

(Bottle, courtesy of BMan1113VR) Pours a clear copper body with a small off-white head. Aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg, turmeric, and coriander. Flavor of pumpkin, hops (grassy, floral), coriander, and nutmeg with a bitter finish. I would like to try this along with some spicy Indian food.

chimplechamp (601) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 15, 2008
pours hazy brown with a smallish creamy head. nose is dead spicy. probably cloyingly so, with a nose like yankee candle. taste was somewhat malty and starchy, but not nearly enough to combat with the spicy flavour. it lacked balance. but it wasn’t all that bad. wouldn’t be able to drink more than one.

The aroma is weak and somewhat odd but it does have the requisite pumpkin, malt, and spices. The appearance is amber with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth but thin. Overall it’s interesting.

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Off-white head with medium retention leaves no lacing. Pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon aromas. Crisp and dry with upfront sour pumpkin and a lasting sour spice finish. Aside from the sourness of this beer, it has many good qualitiesl.

on tap. Clear amber in color with a medkum off white head. Aroma of spices, pumpkin, caramel malt, clean. Taste is pumpkin, caramel/molasses and spices. Medium bodied. Finishes with lingering pumpkin spice and a very mild bitterness. Clean and well balanced. Nicely done.

Bottle from the Coop in Davis, CA. Bottled 9/21/08. Beautiful copper color with a multi-finger frothy beige head. Aroma of pumpkin pie heavy on nutmeg. A bit thinnish with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is pumpkin pie with some herb or veg. It’s not a month old, and at least one week was refrigerated, but I think I detect a slight sour note. More of a flavored ale than a spice ale - whatever I meant by that. Finish is rather astringent. Think I like my pumpkin thicker and spicier. Maybe it would have gone better with food.

Sweet malt on the nose. Fruity flavor, with a cinnamon finish. The finish is very long lasting. Cant say this is very enjoyable.
