This pumpkin ale is brewed with organic pumpkins grown by Will and Judy Stevens, of Golden Russet Farm in Shoreham, VT, less than 15 miles away from our brewery. They have been growing organic vegetables and flowers for more than 25 years. Using local, organic ingredients whenever possible and supporting local farmers is just one of the many ways that we strive to minimize our impact on the environment. Pours clear amber with thin white lacing. Mild spice and pumpkin on the nose. Good pumpkin and nutmeg presence on the palate. Nicely balanced and not too sweet. Very enjoyable.

Tap. Pours a rusty orange with a dense foam head. They didn’t go overboard with the pumpkin flavor or sweetness which makes this a very pleasant, drinkable beer. One of my favorite pumpkin beers so far.

Bottle. This is ok, much better than most pumpkin beers I’ve had. Smells definitely a little bit of spice, cinnamon, nutmeg. Drinkable.

Bottle. Orange-amber with a short, foamy beige head. Strong spice (mainly clove and cinnamon) up front in the aroma followed by pumpkin pie notes, caramel and hints of brown sugar. Taste is big cinnamon and clove, pumpkin, caramel notes, and soft malt. Body is medium with a moderate, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more cinnamon and cove, light nutmeg, pumpkin, pie crust notes, caramel and sweet malt.

From bottle. Aroma has little bit of spice, but not overpowering. Color is a hazy amber/orange with a slight tan head. A little bitter with subtle hint of spice. The body is a bit oily and medium bodied. A little bitter finish. Overall, I would have liked more pumpkin and spice and a little less pronounced bitterness.

Aroma of spices: plenty of mutmeg and clove. Pours hazy and deep orange. Taste is bitter with heavy spice and a creamy yeast. A little bitter but okay.

Bottle. Clear orange with decent head. Spiced aroma is not too strong or overpowering. Med body. Overall good pumpkin beer.

Aroma is a smooth pumpkin with background elements of Autumn spices. Color is a very nice combination of orange and brown, very uniform and warming. Initial bite leads you to believe that the beer will be bitter, but it quickly subsides and gives way to comfortable notes of baked pumpkin, vanilla, and cinnamon. Finishes with a slight nuttiness. Very palatable & well-rounded. No head and minimal carbonation. Extremely enjoyable to the last drop.

The aroma is full of spices and pumpkin, however the taste leaves a little to be desired. It is very bitter, and not as flavorful as I was hoping.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2012 Great Pumppkin ale (withouut the ’Will Stevens’ on label). The aroma was deep with spice and a hint of pumpkin. The taste bordered on too much spice, but was just short of overboard. I liked the sensation on the palate. Sensed ginger and clove. Overall, A seasonal winner. Great for the cool fall evening.
