COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong and well hopped for the voyage sending IPA from the Wolds to the World. Interestingly brewed with a pale Wold grown malt base, a triple hop blend and Maize for the head retention. Such triple hopped beers need hot full flavoured foods to accompany them!

Bottle in Spainsbury’s beer-off. Shining gold without inclusions under a skim of white froth. Aroma initially canned corn and phosphorous warming into more promising English woodland and mandarin. Taste: good tangy satsuma hop rounded with lingering malt suggesting cashew. More of that slightly dank English woodland taste I can’t quite capture: Coombe Abbey? Creamy mouthfeel, dabs of heat, peach, well-poised bittersweetness, almond. Slightly saline. Not bad.

Bottle to pint glass Lemon, hops, sweet grass, and hay. Nice clear effervescent amber with a thin white head. The taste is a classic English IPA with lemon and hay; pretty much as expected from the aroma. The bitterness is there, but muted.

Bottle. Well, this was a nice little surprise. I really expected nothing much here, and maybe that’s why I liked this more than I thought I would. To begin with, British IPAs tend to underwhelm me after having been spoiled so much with the fine American style IPA selection we have here. And secondly, Wold Top hasn’t exactly thrilled me with their beers. But I’m happy to be wrong-- this was actually very enjoyable, with its delicate floral and citrus hop profile and perfectly balanced sweet biscuit malts. The mouthfeel was almost creamy in texture. Just so drinkable.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Team Valley, Gateshead. Dark golden in colour and pours with a large foamy head. It has citrus and peppery hop flavours with toffee and woody notes and grapefruit on the finish.

Hey I like this stuff... not much aroma to it but fairly drinkable stuff. Some kind of citrus taste to it. Nice aftertaste when burping. Glad to discover this beer in Vancouver Canada...

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
