COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Seasonal - Winter
A rich dark Ale, ideal for keeping the chill of Winter at bay. The roasted barley and pale chocolate malt give a deep red hue, the hop combination of Progress, Styrian Goldings and Cascade give bitterness with a soft spicy yet fruity edge, resulting in a winter beer that is well balanced, with an underlying maltiness, and a subtle fruit aroma, excellent with Yorkshire Parkin, Christmas Pudding, Rich Fruit Cake and Mince Pies.

Ottima come dark Ale invernale! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. A brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, wood, and a bit of oxidation. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, wood, and a bit of oxidation, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle@yesprs - Dark brown pour with off white to beige head. Aroma and taste comprises dark dried fruit, sweet malt, some cocoa, light spices on the palate, almost Christmas cake like, sweet malty into the finish. Ok if a little basic.

Appearance: nearly opaque deep brown with amber-brown highlights, one finger of fluffy tan head diminishing rapidly to nothing, spotty lacing. (3/5) Aroma: molasses, dark fruit, toffee. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium body tending somewhat to watery, moderate carbonation, off-dry moderately bitter finish. (3/5) Not unpleasant. Somewhat surprising bitterness in the finish keeps the sweetness under control, without getting astringent. Drinkable example of the style. (12/20)

On tap @Le Bon Bock (Rome). Pours deep brown/reddish with a creamy and persistent off-white head. Aroma of raisin, molasses, brown sugar, toffee, nice. Flavour is medium sweet with a decent bitter end and a little sourish note. Medium body, light carbonation. Refined and tasty.

500ml bottle, courtesy of Mark! Poured into a pint tumbler, sampled on the 25th December 2015. Black mahogany in colour with a pale buff thin head. Subtle malty aroma with hints of dark stone fruit. Good lacing and a nice creamy mouthfeel. Dark malt complex gives a moist fruitloaf base with sweet notes of molasses and dates. There is a pleasant spicy flavour to the hop resins in the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty with roast notes present along with syrupy raisins and prunes in a warming boozy flavour which tastes its strength. Nice complexity and body going on in here. This is a decent Old ale and would be interesting to sample on cask

Bottle from the Old Shambles Tavern. Appearance - near as dammit opaque black with an attractive slightly off white head. Nose - treacle, rich bready notes. Taste - molasses, tea-loaf, raisins, prunes. Palate - at least medium bodied with a big rich middle section and a rich but drying enough finish. Overall - this is good. Best from these guys.
