COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1777, some former lands of Dr. Thomas Walker were laid out into lots along Main and Water streets. On Main Street, numerous hotels and small lodges were established to house the itinerant men who traveled along the Great Road. Hidden down the hill in between Main and Water was a small sidestreet named Troopers Alley. Stepping out the back doors from those Main Street hotels into the Alley, men could find dens of “evil fame,” gambling, and strong ale. Like those establishments, the intense hop bill of this American-style IPA will tempt you with citrus aroma and bitterness. A discrete malt bill of 2-row Pale Malt forms the backbone and a blend of Crystal/Caramel 40 is added for slight sweetness and color to draw you in to the varied hop experience. Simcoe and Columbus hops added throughout the boil provide an alluring bitterness. An enticing blend of Columbus, Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade, and Centennial balances the bitterness with a fragrant aroma and pleasing finish. 135 IBUs, 9 SRM, 5.9% ABV, American pale, Crystal and Caramel 40 malts. Columbus, Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade, and Centennial hops.

On tap at the Cellar in Blacksburg twice in last month. Solid American style IPA on the dry and low alcohol side of the street. A nice sessionable IPA in the piney-dryer style. I like this one quite a bit.

Draft. Clear deep amber color, small off white head. Aroma of earthy pine forests. Taste has earthy citrus, pine resin. Balanced and tasty.

Pours a hazy golden color with an average head at best. Aroma is creamy, hops, pine, grapefruit, and for not having a high OG it has a slightly boozy warm finish. Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, pine, cream, honey, vanilla. Great mouthfeel and balance, moves from fruity and sweet at the beginning to bitter hops and pine in the middle, then finishes with a malty note to boot. Great beer, definitely my favorite from one of my local favorites.

Nose is big on fruits, meh head and just slightly cloudy copper look. Head a little thin. Huge hop flavor, got a lot of bitter aftertaste, but ends up on a sweet note. Good.

12 oz. can courtesy of AdamT. Hazy yellowish-orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of tangerine, mangoes, and caramel. Very nice citrus and grassy hop taste with a strong malt backbone to balance. Bitterness is somewhat lingering but certainly not unpleasant. A nice surprise.

Can: nice buttery grapefruit nose. Amber in color. Taste resembles the nose. I like the hops and the buttery taste. It is unique. Worth seeking out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can: Buttercream icing, pineapple, caramel nose. Cloudy amber, wisps if very fine particulate, thick yellow sticky head. Honeycomb, grapefruit flavor. Mediym body, alcohol noticeable. Awfully buttery in a fairly pleasant way, but I don’t it was intended. Nice combination of hops, albeit a bit muddled. Respectable.

12oz can from brewery courtesy of mom, thanks mom. Orange hue, murky clarity with mostly diminishing white fizzy head. Virtually no lacing. Strong citrus, light fruit, lemon, malt, cake batter. Light bitter citrus and funk up front with a short bland citrus finish. As it warmed the finish became more malty, which was pretty good. Oily texture, flat carbonation.

Pours a clear golden orange from the can with minimal ring of off-white head. Aroma is nice west coast hops with a hint of pale malt. Taste follows, kind of a creamy oat mouth. Light carbonation, well balanced. Solid beer.

Poured as a 2 oz sampler at Virginia Beer Live 2013. Red dark amber color, aroma of lemon. Grapefruit, pinesol, lemon taste. A bit too hoppy.
