The British developed the India Pale Ale with plenty of bitter English hops in order for the beer to survive the long sea passage to India. Not to be outdone, American craft brewers have taken this concept a step further. This double IPA is a high-alcohol, hop delivery mechanism distributed only while at its peak. Although well-balanced, the significant hop flavor and essences (over 100 IBU) lurking in this unassuming pale ale will spring on your taste buds and nose.

10% ABV, >100 IBU, 6 SRM.

-American pale and Caramel malts. Magnum, Centennial, Simcoe, and Amarillo hops.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2016 Draft at the brewery. Nice D/IPA. The ale poured with an off white head, light amber color with lacing. Aroma of floral Hops and resin. there is a soft sweetness maybe due to ABV. The ale had medium body with soft carbonation. The ale had a balanced finish with some lingering soft bitterness.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange on tap with thin off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of sweet caramel under tropical fruit and citrus hops. Taste follows, big and meaty, nice hop profile with a bittersweet finish and a bit of a boozy bite. Solid double IPA.

8 oz. on tap. Mild fog on the orange-copper body and a small spot of cream above. Luscious aroma of orange toffee, resin and a touch of wooden hop. Taste is a nice mix of pineapple, orange, wood and resiny hops with a solid base of malt. Medium body is well balanced and has medium carbonation.

Tap at Suttree’s Tavern. Cloudy orange, with a ring of foam. Nicely hoppy aroma. Taste is actually pretty sweet, at least at first. Plenty of citrus hops in the finish. Seems a bit boozy, as well...

Aroma is almost sweet, piney. Pours hazy golden with great lacing. Taste is big, overwhelming hops and malts. Smooth carbonation and mouthfeel. Not an IPA for everyone, I like it.
