UPDATED: SEP 19, 2009 Cask gravity at Reading BF 09. Clear attractive copper colour. Thin beige head. Now I quite like Wolf and I have a soft spot for them from the first time I went to Norwich. OK bitter. Some sweetish moderate malt. Good condition 3.0/5. Re-rate bottle from Sainsbury. Proper bitter with good yeast character, proper brown biscuit malts and good bittering hops on the finish. Proper old school drinkable sessionable bitter.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned at The Cambridge Blue, Cambridge. Amber with white head. Another malty type bitter with understated hopping, there is a lttle citrus flavour that emerges, but I wanted a lttle more. Light on the palate, reasonable, but could have been better.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of butterscotch and diacethyl. The flavor is sweet with a weird mixture of caramel, butterscotch, and diacethyl, leading to a slightly bitter finish. Thanks fonefan and Brugmansia for sharing.

Bottle, 4.7%. Yeasty and spicy hop aroma. Almost clear dark amber colour. Cardboard flavour, turning quite malty and roasted. Ends up almost OK. Tastes old, but is not.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled. A mid brown coloured lifeless looking beer. The bottle appeared to have sprung a leak as it was not full, and the conditioning didn’t seem quite right. Having said that, it’s a malt accented bitter with fruity notes. Some ashy undertones. Drinkable.
