It’s red-brown with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and a little nuts. The flavor has a moderate sweetness and notes of roasted malt, caramel, light dark syrup and nuts, and the finish is slightly hoppy, bitter and dry.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Test vom 29.1.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Koelschtrinker (10636) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 1, 2011

Bottle. Strong molasses malt aroma with a hint of cherry. Clear dark copper color with large head. Light sweet caramel malt and bitter grass hops flavor - evenly blended. Body is light. Looks and smells very nice but flavor doesn’t follow through.

The bottle looks simple but good, the beer in the glass dark brown, very zippy, wonderful creamy head. Starts strong-malty, modest dry, wonderful nutty notes and also a bit fruity like plum. Finish not as dry as the beginning, very well balanced, not too roasty. Very drinkable and good dunkles!

bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear brown colour, large off-white, neraly beige head. Malty nose with hints of caramel and chocolate. So is the flavour, also full of chocolate, caramel and roasted malts. Full-bodied, with a very shy hoppy touch on the lingering finish. Lovely!

Bottled (thanks Timo A.). Reddish amber colour, small head. Aroma is caramel malts, some fruits, mild raisiny notes as well as some mild sap. Flavour is caramel, fruits, wood, some slight toasted notes as well as syrupy notes. Quite nice and refreshing, even though it’s quite on the sweet side for a dunkel.
