500ml bottle. Hazy golden colour with huge, frothy, fully lasting, white head. Fruity, wheaty and yeasty aroma, hints of banana, apple, pear, clove. Taste is minimally sweet fruity, wheaty, hints of banana, later additionally with some bitter hoppy overtones; slightly watery, soft, creamy palate. A really good one (or is it for the reason that I didn’t have a Hefeweizen for several days and enjoy this one like the arriving wanderer water at the oasis?)

Erzengel (1939) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - FEB 12, 2014

Tayeth (115) - North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JAN 6, 2014

Malzig. Sehr lecker. Sortentypisch wenig gehopft.

500 ml bottle. BB 09/07/13. From bierundbier.de.
Hazy yellow golden colour with a big fluffy white head. Wheat, yeast, spices, citrus tartness, nectarines and mild sweetness in the aroma. The flavour is mildly bitter, wheaty, yeasty and a bit tart too. Dry. Rather tasty. There’s some nice bitterness there too.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2013 Aroma: cloves, banana, sweet flavors... but not particularly strong. Head was pretty, but disappeared quickly. Pours a cloudy amber. Sweet and a little tart on the mouth, a central palate flavor. Nice and creamy mouthfeel, with a little bready bitterness on the back. Carbonation is relatively low and smooth for this kind of beer. A very laid back hefeweizen.

500ml bottle in Melbourne as "Wolf Beer". Hazy dark golden pour with average white head for the style. Nose and taste is noticeable bananas with bread and cloves. Somewhat disappointing mouthfeel lacking the spritzy chewy malt of the best Bavarian wheat beers.

At the Wolfstetter Keller in Vilshofen, 500ml bottle poured before it was served. A classically proportioned hefetrueb wheat beer, dominated neither by clove nor banana but with a full on bready, fresh grain character. Compared with numerous of its kin on our three-week ride through Germany, probably the best.

Came across this beer in Perth, Australia! Bavarian Wheat Beers are the new cat’s meeow it seems! Marketed as WOLF BEER in Australia, this is a STAND OUT Wheat Beer! Refreshing (Date of bottling prominently displayed) and well rounded flavour, impressive crown, long & smooth palate. This beer is not pasteurised, unlike most other beers. Very impressed, this is my favourite Wheat or Hefeweizen!
