Came across this beer in Perth, Australia! Bavarian Wheat Beers are the new cat’s meeow it seems! Marketed as WOLF BEER in Australia, this is a STAND OUT Wheat Beer! Refreshing (Date of bottling prominently displayed) and well rounded flavour, impressive crown, long & smooth palate. This beer is not pasteurised, unlike most other beers. Very impressed, this is my favourite Wheat or Hefeweizen!

At the Wolfstetter Keller in Vilshofen, 500ml bottle poured before it was served. A classically proportioned hefetrueb wheat beer, dominated neither by clove nor banana but with a full on bready, fresh grain character. Compared with numerous of its kin on our three-week ride through Germany, probably the best.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2013 Aroma: cloves, banana, sweet flavors... but not particularly strong. Head was pretty, but disappeared quickly. Pours a cloudy amber. Sweet and a little tart on the mouth, a central palate flavor. Nice and creamy mouthfeel, with a little bready bitterness on the back. Carbonation is relatively low and smooth for this kind of beer. A very laid back hefeweizen.

i was camping and trying to figure out which of my beers would be best warm and i figured the hefeweizens would be better than pilses and helleses. this had a really bready aroma, like a german baeckerei. vanilla banana flavours, furry, banana nectar finish, nice stuff

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A hazy, orange-golden beer topped by a two-finger egg-white head that’s dense and lasting. Not much lacings. Banana dominates the aroma, but there’s also some lemon and cloves. Wheat too. Medium to full body with lots of carbonation, even for a hefeweizen. Banana, wheat and some cloves and lemon in the flavor, and a pleasant bitterness to combat the lemony sourness in the end. There’s a good sweetness in this one, even though the finish is quite dry. A quenching and well-crafted weissbier. 100424

Hazy dark orange body with a stable foamy white head. Honey, vanilla and spices in the nose with some phenolic banana and citruses. Smooth mouthfeel with a moderated carbonation, spicy flavor of clove and cinnamon, vanilla and caramel. Some citrus in the finish. It was fine, not a boring one!

Draught, 5.5% as Wolfstetter Hefe-Weizen (I think), at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà, Rome. Hazy orange colour, OK white head. Lots of banana in the aroma and flavour. Nice citric notes, too. A good German wheat beer.
