yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 19, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden amber/brown with a lacing vague tan head. Herbal and spiced aroma. Flavour is mild spiced and breadish. Vague liqourice note. Ends dry and bitter with a mild spiced note, persisting breadish base flavour. MoritzF (3883), Ruhrpott, Germany Sep 4, 2008 (bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a small off-white foamy layer. Moderately sweet, slightly roasted malty nose with caramel/toffee and shy herbal hops in the background. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light bodied with a medium carbonation. Dark malty taste with soft roast-malt character, also caramel and traces of fruitiness are detectable; quite dry and bitter-sweet finish. Nice but not overly spectacular (28.11.07). MiP (6019), Flensburg, Germany Apr 30, 2008 Updated: May 2, 2008Draught at their outlet in Wolfshöhe as "Dunkel", but it said Schwarzbier on the bill. Cloudy brown colour. Nice creamy tan head. The flavour is quite mild, the same rye-like note as in the ur-hell, still pleasant, and it suits a dunkel better. Late roasted bitterness. Mild and pleasant carbonation. pivnizub (3876), Porúří, Germany Nov 29, 2007 Bottle: Deep amber coloured, slowly collapsing fluffy head, slightly sweetishcaramelly, dark-malty nose with a tinge of roasted malt and a tinge of hops; moderate bitter-sweet flavour; traces of roast-malt, caramel in the drier, malty-bitter finish. A good one, no doubt, but maybe a bit too sweet for the style......... Maria (4361), Thisted, Denmark Sep 2, 2007 Brown/black with a nice head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice, coffee and the flavour has notes of roasted malt and delicious notes of licorice and coffee. It’s refreshing and slightly bitter Schwartzbier, that doesn’t have the pronounced sweetness, like many others in this style. I like it!
