Sample at Taste of Muskegon. Poured clear brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expextations were met.

draft... the best beer of a 9 beer sampler... dark mahogany almost brown, nice tan head...the nose is some light burnt caramel a bit of smoke... tastes outstanding, a bit of bread, molasses, and roast... try this

On tap at the brewpub. The style is rare and tastes like a good version of Michelob Amber Bock. Clean, plain, brown sugar. Simple malt. Browness. There’s no pale lager lameness. Just a clean, light brown plaine lager. Very drinkable.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of toast, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, light nuttiness, herbal, and roasted/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt notes with some light hop presence; and good strength. Taste of toast, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, light nuttiness, herbal, and roast/yeast earthiness. Light earthy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, light herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of roast/bready malt with light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice schwarzbier style. All around good complexity and robustness of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12 oz. bottle poured to a shaker showing a ruby highlighted dark brown, with an average, bubbles & cream, light tan head that slowly diminished to a ring & film, and produced some wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was light grain, with a touch of roastiness and earthiness. The flavor was similar, with low hop bitterness, a medium body, and soft carbonation. Nothing that stood out in character, yet not thin or watery. Decently sessionable.

Bottle. Pours dark amber with a small off-white head that fades fast but leaves some lacing. Aroma is ok, smells like a macro beer with just a hint of roast and smoke. Taste has some roast flavor but not much. Kinda watery and thin. Easy to drink but not enough flavor to make me go back.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with an off white head. Typical grape like aroma from the lager yeast. Sweet taste with a malty aftertaste.
