Dark with a very clean appearance. Holds a subtle coffee flavor and goes down smoother than a cup of java.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of toast, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, light nuttiness, herbal, and roasted/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt notes with some light hop presence; and good strength. Taste of toast, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, light nuttiness, herbal, and roast/yeast earthiness. Light earthy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, light herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of roast/bready malt with light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice schwarzbier style. All around good complexity and robustness of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a dark brown with a low bubbly, off-white head. Aroma has a great roasted malt presence with some mild nutty notes and light caramel touch at the end of the nose. Flavor has a solid nutty kick with a good dose of toasted flavors in the middle and some light chocolate malt notes very late in the flavor. Palate is light and bubbly. Overall a very good brew. Lots of taste, well balanced and a good crisp, bubbly feeling as its going down. Wish it were distributed around my neck of the woods.

draft... the best beer of a 9 beer sampler... dark mahogany almost brown, nice tan head...the nose is some light burnt caramel a bit of smoke... tastes outstanding, a bit of bread, molasses, and roast... try this

Poured dark and bubbly. This is my first brew from Wolverine and Iíve never been there despite living right in town. It smelled a subtle mix of grains with no hop. The flavor was a pretty standard lager but with more body. Iím not usually a lager guy (aside from mexican), but this was decent.

A $4 or $5 bottle had at Three Blind Mice in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Appearance: Ruby. Head dissipates pretty quickly. Only a bit of lacing. Smell: Malt. Roasty character to deem this a "dark" lager. Nothing especially interesting, but it smells nice. Taste: Like the smell. A lot like it. A slight sort of coffee or chocolate flavor comes off as well, but itís in the background. Hey, I guess some roasting will do that to a beer, eh? Fairly high carbonation which is expected for the style. A pretty nice beer. Simple tasting sort of beer that you can drink without feeling compelled to think too much about what youíre tasting. Iím not the only one who does that... right...?

What a fantastic concept. This is a dark LAGER. Most of the flavor of a porter, but without the heaviness and a lot less bitter. I like porters, but sometimes you have to have a change. I will be buying more of this beer.

Bottle. Light brown, clear, thin head. Similar to a brown ale, maybe with more carbonation and a little less body. Easy to drink with a good taste.

A very dark color for lager. Not too much flavor with this one. Not bad though.
