COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NAMED ONE OF DRAFT MAGAZINE’S TOP 25 BEERS OF 2013!
This ground-breaking style combines the essential ingredients and hopping methods used to create a world-class I.P.A. Then using our expert lagering techniques and house lager yeast we created an instant favorite among the existing and steadily growing number of “hop-heads” and craft “lager-heads” in the beer world today. Gulo Gulo I.P.L. is hopped with Cascade, Chinook, Columbus, Warrior and Pilgrim hops. It is dry-hopped once in the fermenter and then a second time with whole-cone Cascade hops before packaging.

On tap. It’s a lightly hazy dark golden beer topped by a small off-white head. The aroma is peachy and tropical fruity, with hints of pale malts in the back. It has a soft bitterness on the palate, it’s full bodied and softly carbonated, with a light malty touch as a backdrop for the fruity hops. Lasting fruity and light bitter finish. Quite nice this one. Easy drinkable and tasteful. 150615

Well Honesty a little too strong in a kind of syrupy way. Kind of chafy. Not terrible. Just a solid IPL...

Tap @ Wolverine State: Light copper color with good clarity, almost no haze at all. Soapy, eggshell cap fades quickly but foams up nicely when the glass is swirled. Aroma is earthy, deep-rooted with grassy & muddled hops. Semi-pungent, edging on piney without being abrasive. Biscuit malts, light caramel, & some faint perfume. Flavor is balanced nicely, too. Shows more of a citric side to the hops. Semisweet caramel malt, orange rind, grapefruit, moderately pungent hop oil, freshly cut grass, & herbaceous spice. Pine & bitter citrus in the finish with a bit of leftover caramel & toasted malts. Crisp, snappy mouth feel, relatively light bodied & wet. Pretty nice.

Going to assume this was an old bottle. Poured a dark golden color with a white head. Aroma was of stale hips, grass and caramel. Flavor similar, weirdly bitter and lightly vegetables.

Bottle - Light citrus and pale malts. Clear gold orange with a small white head. Light sweetness and citrus. Not bad, but there are much better in this style.

Deep Amber colored pour. Small white head. Plenty of lacing. Nice aroma of malt, cereal, and hops. Taste is full of hops and malt. A little bitter in the back.

Pailhead (5589) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JUN 28, 2014
Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate citrus with some faint grassy notes. It pours a transparent amber with a one finger white head that leaves behind a nice sticky sheet of lacing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sweet citrus and light caramel. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit and lighter pine. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.
