COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This cold-weather seasonal was designed to make your winter warmer rather than to match a particular style. We start with hearty Maris Otter malt from the UK. Then we add Special Roast barley from Wisconsin, before heading back across the pond for some dark German Munich malt and German Wheat malt for some added character. We top that off with a blend of dark, rich, caramel malts and the result is an extremely smooth and silky lager beer with a hint of alcohol in the flavor and a clean finish…the perfect beer for drinking by the fire.

From a bottle. Really delicious, malty flavor balanced but still refreshing.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, raisin, pear, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt, earthy hop, and moderate yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, pear, apple, herbal, floral, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, pear, apple, herbal, floral, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of malt, earthy hop, and moderate yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Munich dunkel style. Good balance and robustness of malt, earthy hop, and moderate yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

2014-01-25. Brown body with a small off white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt. Flavour is similar, sweet caramel malt, sweetish overall impression. Average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Simple but quaffable. Bottle shared by DuctTape

Sample at the brewery. Pours light copper with a small creamy head. Aroma is faint, some light toast and spices. Taste is a little better. Light toasty malt along with some cinnamon and caramel. Malty sweet finish. A little chewy even in the mouthfeel. Decent, easy to drink beer for the winter.

A really great color with a frosty head. A solid quality I’m noticing on all Wolverine, that great clean crisp feel. A big difference on this one from the others I’ve had is the hop character. A lot stronger in this one. Followed up with a caramel finish. Hit the nail on the head for that winter/Christmas style drink.

Bottle. I didn't like this one. Very sweet and malty with off notes like something's gone bad.

Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of earthy grains with a bit of weak wheat and light spice. Flavor has some deep grain with a hint of wheat and light spice.

12oz Bottle. Thanks Sean! Solid carameled malt aroma. Toffee and nuts. Clear amber-brown pour, with a tan head. Flavors are solid. A nice vienna-like malt structure, with clean malt flavors, and a nice snap to it. There’s a little softness to the edges that keeps it warming and comfortable. Chewy, toothy, and rich. A good winter beer.
