Growler. Pours dark copper with a surprisingly large, frothy, tan head. The head disappears quickly, though. Standard cider aroma, with some notes of oak and vanilla. Very sweet, as usual, but subdued in the finish. The palate is nice and crisp, with a smooth finish. Overall, this is a very flavorful cider, with great complexity and depth, especially for a cider.

Bottle from Wegman’s. Pours deep copper with minimal head. Apple, cinnamon, honey in the nose. Tastes rich, dense, with apple, spice, cinnamon, finishing tartness, molasses, and oak. Pretty good, and the bourbon barrels add a lot of depth to this.

amber with minimal head. probably more interesting than good. there’s a lot of flavor, that’s for sure, but i’m not sure the overall mix is hitting the sweet spot for me. woodiness with some harsh bourbon overtone

12 oz bottle. Deep amber color with some temporary head. Conservative barrel age treatment. Lightly sweet. Good apple flavor.

Bottle into snifter glass, clear ambery-copper color with no head. Aroma notes of maple, vanilla, light oak and apple sweetness. Taste adds notes of sugary caramel, maple syrup and light cinnamon spices. Light body, low carbonation, sticky with sweet caramel vanilla finish. Not bad for a chuck.

Bleh, I had kinda hoped this would be a good one and it started interesting with a nice oaky vanilla note but quickly turned to a really sweet and cloying cider, hint of tartness and carbonation, with the barrel flavors just becoming a little off-putting rather than adding character.

12 oz bottle poured. Pours a dark solid gold color with a fading head. Aroma of some sweet sugary apples. Flavor is interesting, and a bit unexpected. Maple syrup flavor throughout. Kinda a dessert cider. Oakey. Unique for a cider, which I always enjoy. Solid.

Pours deep amber, no fizz. Smells like bourbon soaked, and flambéed, apples. Taste is sweet, apple, vanilla, sweet, hints of bourbon. Medium-bodied with a wet texture and no mouth-carbonation, Woodchuck Private Reserve Barrel Select Cider finishes with a sweet, slight apple crispness.

Draft... Crystal clear, beautiful, textbook-amber pour with no legs. The aroma delivers tons of white oak, accompanied by notes of brown sugar, caramelized apple and vanilla. Full-bodied and syrupy with tingly carbonation. The flavor is bold, sweet and tangy - caramel, molasses, brown sugar, toasted oak and maple, accompanied by a nifty nuance of malic acid. Sweet, maple-syrupy, lightly tangy finish. A sipper for sure.
