2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
JDW, Rochester. Pale amber. Musty best bitter. Drinkable, but unremarkable. Some grubby hops over a dry, indifferent malt, finishing with a lingering dusty hop bite.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
A mid amber gold coloured beer with a weak white head. A strange hoppy aroma, somewhat appley, and a touch grassy, then a light malty aroma comes through. Dry and thin mouthfeel. The taste starts off ok, with a prickly hop flavour, but this soon transforms into a tart apple taste. There is a suggestion of malt towards the end, but it doesn’t aid the tartness, which lingers on into the finish.

50cl bottle from a Tesco’s in Salisbury. Amber with a thin cream head; malty aroma with a touch of orange zest; over-pasteurised jammy malt flavour; and a dry, asstingent, finish. Rather mundane.

Cask conditioned handpump Saracens Head Daventry 18/10/12. An amber coloured beer with a whitish coloured head and lacing. A dull plain aroma leads to a fruity slightly tart start in the mouth with a bitter finish. It’s passable in the mouth; no more.
