Dark gold / very light copper colour with a thin white head that doesn’t persist long. A spicy and piney herbal hop aroma with soft honey and apricot sweetness and malt. Taste is sweet. Fruity sweet. Apricot and honey again. Soft smooth taste of plums and biscuit too. Pulls of its strength very well. Finishes without the medicine and pear touch that is very typical of many examples of the style which is massively to its credit. All in all pretty damn good. Would not say it reinvented the wheel but I’d definitely recommend it.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe:
The beer was an easy on to drink and the 7% abv. provided a nice warming, slightly boozy feel to proceedings but this was balanced out well by the citrus flavours and sweetness, not to mention the caramel malts. A very nice beer and one well worth picking up if you’re lucky enough to stumble across it.

fruity aroma from a amber body thin white head, taste of sweet prunes then some bitter aftertaste. really good one of early beer drinking favourites

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours amber with a thin cream head. Notes of banana, caramel, sherry and booze. Starts sweet and finishes bitter with a bit of a metallic after taste. Has quite a home brew feel to it. Not bad, but not great.

Bottle. Picnic Fayre. Cley Next The Sea. Norfolk. Orangey amber. Film of white head. Bit of a prune juice and fruit salad thing going on. Juicy and sweet. Taste sets of sweet, then turns dry, with a little bitterness. Fairly light palate, given the ABV. Fruity dry, light bitter finish. Good stuff. Must try and find it on cask.

Philym (1003) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JAN 18, 2014
Appearance: Clear amber no head. Aroma: Note of dried fruit, syrup and hint of vinous. Taste: Low/medium sweetness and bitterness with low sourness. Palate: Smooth thick texture, light/medium body, no/low carbonation, abrupt liquorice, dried fruit, boiled sweet finish. Comments: Tasty not great, and not keen on the mouthfeel. Review is for the bottled version 7% ABV.

Amber/ruby colour, with a slight haze that cleared very slowly and a small white head. Strong malty, plummy aroma. Smooth in the mouth with fruit (banana & plum), a touch of malt, and a dry finish. Very good, and very drinkable for such a strong ale.

Leighton (12668) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 30, 2012
Bottle on the train to Brussels for Paul’s Pre-Wedding Beverage Bonanza. Pours clear, amber-gold with a small, white foam head. Ripe fruit aroma with light toast and faint alcohol. medium to big sweet flavor with some orange, toasty sugar, bread and a bit of pear. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Mildly warming finish with light marmalade, toasty sugar and bread, some caramel and booze. Yeah, not bad at all.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe, King’s Lynn
Hazy amber color; generous, compact head. The aroma is light and simple, the flavor has some malt, moderate sweetness, alcohol perception beyond expectations, light fruity touch and a light presence of vegetables; the bitterness is low, the final is just a bit drier.
Very forgettable and overpriced.

Sweet with caramel aroma. Strong alcohol flavor with little hops. Bright orange with thin head. Ok.
