3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned gravity dispense Fur & Feather Woodbastwick 23/08/12. A dark dark brown coloured beer with barely any head. A sweet caramelly mild. A bit cola like in some aspects. A certain nuttiness. A reasonably tasty dark mild.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled this mild at the Four Marys, Linlithgow in April 1993. Cask, handpump dispense. Jet black in colour with a white creamy head. Roast malt aroma with good mouthfeel. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malt complexes with dry black malt in the initial taste along with roasted barley. Slight hint of blackcurrant fruit in mouth, leading to a dry roasted aftertaste. Malt present in the sweet finish. A satisfying session mild.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
On cask at The Stagg’s Beer Festival, 2011. Pours a red - orange colour with a decent beige head. Aroma of caramel, treacle, coffee and oats. Similar flavours. Quite malty and and a little thin. A slightly soapy finish with mild carbonation. Just OK.

Cask at Fur & Feather Inn, Woodbastwick, England.

Quite a same with flavour. Watery and way too sweet for me.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Gravity cask at the Battersea Beer Festival, 6th Feb 2008. Dark brown colour with a chocolatey malt aroma. Soft flavour of dark malt, matched by a light, very smooth mouthfeel. A simple but well-executed mild.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A Mes rate: Gravicask at Battersea Beer Festival.
Dakr dark translucent red with a thin white rim. Really nice colour for a mild. Really pleasant coffee malt that is typically thin but very drinkable and with just enough character to keep your interest. Straight down the line but solid mild.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask - Fur & Feather, Woodbastwick. A dark reddish brown brew and perhaps a slight breeze of cloudiness. For the ABV, this beer has several nuances. The aroma is very pleasing, of a roasted malt and subtle fruity undertones. The flavours - more roasted malts, some toffee and a hint of dark chocolate - come through and compliment each other nicely without getting in each other’s way, so to speak. This brew’s downside is that it’s slightly thin/watery and the finish is quite short. Apart from that, Mardler’s is another tasty beer from Woodfordes.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Gravity Cask @ Battersea Beer Festival. Chocolate and light roast with some fruit. Appropriately mild earthy hops. Light bodied. Not overly flavoursome - but the flavours are well defined and complementary. On the whole I wasnt impressed, but may need more care than a beer festival can spare to shine.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask gravity at Battersea BF 2007. I was rather surprised that I hadn’t rated this before. Very deep ruby/brown colour with no head. some roasty dry finish. Little bit watery in mouth. Some dark malts throughout. Decent mild which I guess fresh and in good condition would be very drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Half pint gravity fed at the Battersea Beer Festival, dark brown with a thin bubbly tan head. A warming chocolate malt aroma. Light and smooth palate, but a bit flavourless with just some light malt coming through, But still a very enjoyable mild.
