COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also Bottle Conditioned.
Originally the house beer for Limes Hotel in Fakenham.
Ingredients: Maris Otter; Crystal malt; Goldings hops. Tasting notes: A full-bodied pale amber beer with the rich flavour of Dundee cake. Sultana fruitiness is balanced by a hoppy bitterness, to give a full, but light feel. The finish continues to develop into a warm, mellow glow

Cask at Hoste Arms, Burnham Market, Norfolk. 8th July. Difficult to rate a beer that wasn’t fit to be served, but still, what do you want for the best part of 4 quid...

Bottle sample at my 5555th rating tasting at Sar HaMashkaot Ramat Gan. Thanks zvikar. As Marks & Spencer Norfolk Bitter. 4.8%. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of floral, citric and earthy hops, a bit of yeast, malt and a bit of caramel. Sweetish flavor with malt, caramel, a bit of bread, earthy hops and mild bitterness. Medium-bodied.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2014 Bottle from M&S. Clear dark brown with small off-white head. Very spicy up front, some dried fruits, caramel, citrus, some weird candy sweetness, like the candy with many herbs in it. Medium bodied and bit light carbonation. Quite interesting stuff.

Shot (116) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - JUN 2, 2014
Bottle conditioned. Pours reddish brown with a huge head that dissipates to a half inch. Good lacing. Lots of malt in the aroma. Some caramel; dried fruit. Flavors are caramel malt and stone fruit. Slight hop bite with a bit of bitter citrus. Light, peppery mouthfeel. Nice balance between maltiness and dryness. At 4.5% ABV, definitely a session beer. Not bad. This seems to be a typical English bitter. Well done.

Douberd (2091) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - MAY 25, 2014
Bottle 500 ml at home, as M&S Norfolk Bitter, poured into a big Guinness glass, ABV 4.5% Amber coloured, clean body with lots of activity in it, big fluffy and thick tan head, with good retention. Minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of iron, malts, very light caramel, hay, ripe dark fruits. Fruity taste, slight citrus, less metal than I expected thankfully, more caramel though, good bitterness on the finish and the aftertaste. Medium thin body, highly carbonated. Okay beer, ended uo being better than I expected from the aroma and the appearance, but still a mediocre one.

500ml bottle from M&S, as Norfolk Bitter. Pours hazy amber, might have been clearer if there weren’t a big yeast deposit around the neck. Must have been stored at a strange angle for some time. Big off-white head. Aroma is floral hops and toffee. Taste is sweet, very faint bitterness. Carbonation is a tad high. Creamy texture, medium body. Short finish. OK.
