4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 5, 2007 Bottle conditioned from GBBF 2005. No head, and despite pouring carefully, a little haziness in the beautiful amber colour. Complex but immensely drinkable. Malt and fruit blended in the taste and a subtle bitterness crept in at the end. Wonderful. Cask at ’Spoons, M.K. 5th July, 2007. Caramel malt aroma. Fruity taste, some sourness, grainy background. Late bitterness.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2008 500ml bottle of M&S Norfolk Bitter. Gold with a thin white head, slightly hazy; citrus aroma with disturbing farmyard hints; soft and full-bodied with a smooth syrupy mouthfeel; rounded bitter finish. Very drinkable.
Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Hazy gold with a creamy white head; pear and apple flavours; dry finish. Not very inspiring.

A bottle conditioned bitter which is more pleasant than their Great Eastern which I tried on the same night.
Plenty of hops and bitterness with a head that dissapeared very quickly.A pleasant but not outstanding bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle conditioned. Slightly hazy amber with poor head and low condition. Grapefruit dominated with hints of peardrop aromas, some hop flavours and a hop bitter finish wrestling with the still noticable grapefruit notes.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hand pump at the Hogshead, Birmingham. A bright copper hue, with a low-key scum-top head. Fruity initially - orange and ginger, receding to a dryish and nicely malty finish. Not too bitter, quite light, and drinkable. I think this is nice enough, but it didn't set my trousers on fire.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with almost no head, no carbonation apparent. Aroma of peaches, malt and hops. Flavor of peaches, earthy malt and cardboard, which would be a sign of oxydation. The body is light with an oily texture and very low carbonation. This could have been halfway decent if not for the carbonation and oxydation problem.
