A great Norfolk beer, full of flavour! Try a pint direct from the cask behind the bar at the 3 Horseshoes in Warham. A pub where time has stood still.

Draught (St. Radegund, Cambridge)
Light Ambe, thin loose head. Hoppy aroma. Full malty mouthtaste, plenty of character, some bitterness too. All round good session.

Cask handpump. Clear amber with a short head. Hoppy scent with some lime. Fizzy. Some grassy bitterness, slightly hoppy in the mouth, but I didn’t think there was much in here at all.

Bottle sampled. Pours copper with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, citrus, and hops. The flavor is slightly sweet, fruit, citrus, caramel, and finishes with a grassy bitterness.

Cask at the Carousel Lounge, Hythe. Gold with a thin white head. A first for me, this definitely smells of furniture polish - I checked around and they had not been polishing the bar! - creamy with citrus flavours, but lacking any depth; a fruity and dry finish.

A very hard beer to rate, it’s almost perfectly balanced so nothing really stands out and yet it does it’s job so well. It’s fruity but with enough bitterness to balance it. It is a much better beer on cask that out of the bottle!

Cask at Farnham Beer Festival 2007. Colour is a dark golden colour, with a small white head, Fruity nose with notes of orange, dried apricots and earthy hops. Initially malty taste turning fruitier with notes of orange, apricots and a nice dash of earthy hops in the finish. Rather dry, light to medium body. Quite tasty and nice session bitter, actually.
