Cask at The Thorn Tree nr Ripley, Derbyshire, 08-07-10 Pours hazy amber in colour with white head. Aroma is quite sweet and is nice and fudgey, vanilla and cream, these aroma’s are also replicated in the mouth but with some underlying bitterness, possibly a bit too fudgey and chewy. Bottle Conditioned. Very lively. Amber with a large white head. Extremely tasty with a nice balance between bitterness, hops & malt. Much like an IPA with perhaps a little more sweetness than usual. Overall a most drinkable ale.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Quite good trong Bitter/Golden. Stronger alc flavour hits at the end, and is a little cloying and catches the throat. Pretty good balance and flavour, but too sweet, and I do worry about these beers that think they have to betoo strong. After all it takes more skill to get good balance and flavour in a smaller percentage scale. OK.
