On tap. Ordered this thinking it was a local craft brew IPA which it is not. This is an english ale from england I now know and for that it is fairly typical and true to the style. Nothing great though especially if you are ready for an IPA which, again, this is not.

Tap sample. Poured a clear orange color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate hop and pale malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good beer.

Cask at GBBF 2006. An orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of hops. The flavor is sweet grassy and malty, but also with an OK amount of fruit. OK, without being anything special - I think it lacks more hops.

It was supposed to be an IPA, but it is not my call. It was very bitter but with copper features. NOt too sweet.

Cask, Out of the Vaults Leicester Crawl Jan 2005. Hazy gold, thin white head and delicate condition. Sweet malt aromas, some bubblegum notes in the mouth with a developing hoppiness but not enough to hide the bubblegum that lingers in the finish.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2005 This brewery was formed fairly recently after taking over Khean. Although I understood that they would continue to make beers under the Khean name, this looks like a new one. And it’s a pretty solid effort. The colour is fairly pale - a cross between amber and gold. It certainly has plenty of hop attack, tending more towards the sharp grapefruit than the flowery aromatic. I picked up a bit of butterscotch in the aroma (one of my pet hates), but I suspect that may have been more down to the condition than the beer’s intrinsic nature. There are hints of juicy fruit (maybe apples) and pale malt in the mix too. Crisp, clean and slightly tart. Fairly light bodied - slips down easily. A nice beer. Cask (handpump) at Out of the Vaults, Leicester (RB Leicester pub crawl).
