COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottle Conditioned, Regular;
First launched as a seasonal bitter in 1995, Shropshire Lad was inspired by the collection of poems by AE Housman. It quickly proved so popular that we made the beer available all year round. Shropshire Lad is a strong, well-rounded bitter whose cascade of flavours come from a careful blend of selected English malted barley, traditional English Fuggles and Golding hops. It is now our best-seller on draught, and in the bottle.

Bottle courtesy of bu11zeye. Clear orange amber pour with little head. Smells fresh and fruity. Light buttery yeast. Taste is a dry bitter that does not leave much of a finish. Some bitterness though. Not bad, has some substance.

50cl bottle from Tesco, Solihull, ABV 5%. Copper with a thin, dense, cream head; unpleasant stewed malt aroma; similar stewed malt flavour with boiled sweets and some musty hops; caramel finish. Not bottle conditioned - pasteurised to death.

500 ml bottle (5.0% abv), courtsey of Sigmund. A cloudy reddish brown beer with a mediumsized, lightly tanned head. Nice smell of nuts and plums. Some floral hop notes and a touch of marzipan. Taste is almost full malty, has a nice marmelade-like fruitiness and some gentle bittering hops underneath. Medium to light body. Malty and light acidulous-fruity ending. A well-crafted Bitter.
