Draft at the brewpub. On paper, this is a Brown Ale that is brewed with apple and cinnamon -- sounds like it might not be great, right? Something for beer geeks to be wary of? Well, I really recommend trying at least a taster of it. I’m not going to say that I could sit and down pint after pint, that’s definitely not the case. But I was very pleasantly surprised. As far as the rating goes, it’s pretty simple: Aroma of toasty malt sweetness, fresh apple and cinnamon. Clear medium brown in color with a fine, lasting head. Flavor is also chock full of apple and cinnamon, it’s not just a hint here and there, we’re talking full-on, but it blends with the malty, toasty, gently sweet base beer well, also. Finishes with a huge cinnamon flourish. If you like spiced apple cider (this is brewed using cider, by the way, rather than whole apples, as it once was), then you owe yourself a try of this fall treat.

I friggin’ loved this beer. I can see snobs not being into it cuz it’s kinda fruity or spicy, but all I know is... I couldn’t stop drinking it. I couldn’t wait to come back the next day and get more. Usually beers with this sorta wacky flavoring (apple cinnamon) aren’t something you want more than 1 or 2 of, but this was awesome.

12 oz bottle and also had on draft. Nice aroma of fresh cut apples. The taste is like apple crisp dessert. Many hard core craft beer drinkers may say this is a “girl “ beer or “It’s good for someone who doesn’t drink a lot of beer.” Well, that maybe true, but it’s still really is tasty… for a girl beer. Could be a good brew to start somebody on a better beer path. And it’s a session beer at 4.4 ABV.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of maniac at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 3/19/11. Pours a clear copper color with a medium frothy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of overwhelming spicy notes. Cinnamon, nutmeg and others. Some faint malty notes. The taste is caramel malts and spices. Thin-medium bodied. Pretty strong on the spices.

Smells of apple cinnamon and apple pie! This brown pour tastes much the same with an overwhelming amount of cinnamon. It luckily just adds flavor and not fire.

Brown pour, Aroma is Cider, spice, apple pie spices are subtle, not overwhelming. Flavor is clean, spicy malt, light apple presence as well. I dont really mind this at all, in fact I like it.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2011 Had this on tap at the Mountain View Grand. Aroma is great - gingerbread, cinnamon, allspice, Christmas cookies, nutmeg. Taste is a bit of a letdown. Kind of thin, very spicy - mostly ginger overload. Love that smell though.
