VTHopHead (700), Barre, Vermont, USA May 26, 2008 Bottle - Poured a nice amber in color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is of flowery hops with hints of sweet malt. Flavor is a bit understated, but definitely hoppy. A bit disappointing for and IPA. Not nearly as hoppy and bitter as I like in an IPA. An slightly less than average IPA that might be best called just a pale ale.
jjpm74 (3087), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Sep 5, 2008 Bottled and brewed at Shipyard. This is not the same as the draught only version available at the inn. Pours copper with a thin white head. Has that signature Shipyard bland and boring yeast signature that overwhelms what is an otherwise a great beer. Some stray hoppy citrussy elements are also present, but not nearly as defined as the draught version. Tastes citrussy with an annoying pride of rignworm infested undertone. It amazes me anyone contract brews though Shipyard. thornecb (1128), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Sep 2, 2008 Pours gold into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention leaves spot lacing as it recedes to coat surface. Orange and nut aromas. Sour orange upfront with a lasting bitter/sour finish. Bungalo22 (304), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Aug 28, 2008 Pours an amber color with a nice head that disapates quickly. It has a nice sweet smell full of carmel and citrus. It also tastes pretty sweet but with a slight bitter kick at the end. asheft (924), Marburg, Germany Aug 18, 2008 [bottle from brewpub]
Very inviting aroma of caramel and lemony pine hops. Almost clear amber with an island of white. Nice hoppy flavour up front, with toffee and then buttery diacetyl, but too much bitterness for the driness. Light body and empty dry bitter. Some nutty notes. Good on the aroma, but poor execution in the taste. Holdwine (831), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Jun 29, 2008 Good enough pale ale, enough hops to qualify, but not dry enough for an IPA in my book. Easy to drink with a nice wet hay malt.
