Rated as Doppelbock with 7.5%. 13+12+13+12

JaBier (5011) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JAN 21, 2012
Bottle shared by Dogbrick at the Eurostash III tasting on 1/12/12. Clear brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, nuts and a bit of fruit. Malty and chocolatey flavor with nuts and caramel cream, along with some grassy hops in the finish. I about busted a nut when I saw that this beer is from my Opa’s hometown, and it turned out to be really good.

Sample at Eurostash III tasting on 01/12/2012: 2011 bottle from the brewpub, including a gift bag that I inadvertently bought due to the language barrier. The beer is a dark brown color with hints of amber around the edges. Medium khaki head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit and caramel. Medium body with a sweet roasted character and flavors of caramel malt, fruit and a bit of chocolate. The finish is smooth and malty with a lingering sweet aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

fiulijn (15360) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 21, 2011
Swingtop bottle from the brewery, 50cl, the last one of the season
It pours a dim black color, with medium sized creamy head. The aroma is quite dusty, with some dark caramel, roasted malt, chocolate and a trace of butter. The body structure is average; there is some dark caramel flavor, traces of buckwheat and honey, and unfortunately a light sourness, sign that this beer didn’t hold up very well (it was constantly in a fridge).
It may be quite good if fresher and not lightly infected; next year...

12/11/11/13//11
