Bleh, I had the misfortune of visiting a pub for a party in which there was no good beer available and this almost managed to get me to give up drinking for the night. Keg - amber with a creamy white head. Good retention and good lacing. Aroma of some malt and a hint of caramel. Taste is malts, hint of bitterness. Watery body. Barely tastes of anything. Not pleasant.

Bitter from the Coors-owned Worthington brand, once a classic among English ales. Industrial example of the style, pasteurized and tapped with a nitro tap to artificially generate the creamy character and milky head of a real cask conditioned ale. Very stable and dense, white head, brownish bronze colour. Bitterish and metallic character, caramelly and nutty malts, some honey but not sweet, thick and indeed very creamy and milky mouthfeel, soft herbal hop bitterishness in the finish. Too artificial, obviously.

Very bad mass produced cream flow beer. Very little aroma evident, and little taste, slight sweetness, and a touch of bitterness.

Keg at The Trent, Birches Head. A clear amber colour with a creamy white head. Slight aroma of caramel, copper coins, slight vanilla and grassy hops. Taste is metallic of copper coins, slight caramel and nuts. Light bodied and a smooth but watery texture. A smooth, slightly malty, metallic finish. The reason why I donít like mass produced draught bitter. Cold and flavourless, not good.

Simple bitter. Absolutely nothing special. Drinkable as an alternative to water.
