COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned; occasionally on cask.
Production moved from White Shield brewery to William Worthington’s brewery in December 2010. Prodiuction moved to the main Coors brewery in Burton in 2012 to keep up with increasing demand.
Ingredients: Halcyon barley, from the northern part of Norfolk; Sugar; Northdown and Challenger hops - including a hop extract; and a two-strain yeast supplied by Bass.
"It has a clean, fresh flavour and full bodied, balanced bitterness." Michael Jackson.
An iconic India Pale Ale (IPA) brewed to the same recipe as 1830. Aromatic hops, toasted cereal notes and hints of smoke and spice kindle White Shield’s embracing nose, enhanced by fragrant fruity characters and an intricate top-note of freshly baked bread. With time to condition, William Worthington’s unique dual yeast works up a sharp sparkle, crafting a full luxurious mouth-feel that combines with warming hints of alcoholic liqueur and White Shield’s ever so subtle peppery character, to create an exquisite bittersweet finish.

good looker - large head that certainly lasts (to say the least)...just not what I was anticipating. Heard so much about it, but it just did not live up to my expectations

Malty aroma. Cloudy light brown colour with excellent head. Nice coffee flavor up front with lingering bitter aftertaste. Medium body with good warmth and medium to high carbonation.

Aroma: intense caramel, molasses, light floral hops. Appearance: clear amber, small white head. Taste: light to medium sweet. Palate: malty caramel sweets make way to some bitters, intensifying, massive grassy and floral hops, low carbonation, average-long finish. Overall: excellent "IPA" or more of an ESB, lovely sweet aroma with nice bitter palate. Bottle from Waitrose, Canary Wharf.

Barwa: jasno bursztynowa, lekko zamglona. Piana biała, drobno pęcherzykowa, średniej wielkości, ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: słodowy (herbatnikowo- karmelowy), owocowy (jabłko, śliwka, gruszka), z nieco perfumowanymi akcentami chmielu kwiatowo- ziołowego (prawdopodobnie z powodu użycia ekstraktu) oraz lekką nutą alkoholową. Smak: słodowy z przewagą herbatników, domieszką karmelu oraz toffi. Następnie chmielowa kontra i nieco owocowa goryczka w dolnych rejestrach. Alkohol na finiszu ledwie wyczuwalny

Bottle from LCBO. Pours clear orange with beige head. Fruity English ale aroma. Bready fruity taste, and a moderately bitter finish. Pretty good English IPA.

See: Amber, half finger white head Smell: Hint of malt, spices, zesty hops. Aroma quite subtle in all honesty. Taste: Very smooth, well balanced. Distinct apple flavour from the hops and hints of spice. Fairly crisp , no lingering after taste. Subtle malty finish. Pallet: Medium body and medium carbonation. Dry finish. Very nice beer, well balanced flavour with interesting apple and spice notes.

bottle. Poured a bit hazy orange-amber with thin white head. Aroma is light and sweet with caramel malt. Medium body, crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish. Flavour is sweet with bready malt and fruity esters along with herbal hops and an astringent note.

500ml bottle, 5.6%. An amber cloudy IPA that pours well with a good white foamy head. Fizzy. Slightly bitter, hoppy, mild metallic element to the flavour. Good beer

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dry English style hops is dominant with some dry caramel malt notes also perceptible. Taste is also dominated by some dry English style hops with light floral undertones some white pepper notes and some dry caramel malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. Quite enjoyable and nice to enjoy a non-American style IPA once in a while.
