CHILL DOWN. After bombing the back bowls or just walking the dog, you’ll want to snug up to our generously hopped, dark amber Winter Ale. Dry hopped twice with a cozy Centennial/Chinook & Cascade/Columbus combo, the Powder Key with warm your tongue without blowing it up. Whether boarding or brewing, when it comes to balance, we go to the extreme.

Bomber. Clear medium copper, thinner off-white foam mostly lasts. Foresty fruity hoppy aroma and taste, some citrus and herb, faintly floral with a spice hint, backseat toasty c-malt. Average carbonation, light-medium bodied, well hopped. Hardly a Winter Ale, more of a leaner, oily, boozy IPA. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

Looks promising, but falls short. Initial burst of aroma fades fast, taste also falls kind of flat. Normal frothy head, reddish amber body. Slight sticky caramel aftertaste, gentle warmth.

Bottle from bhensonb. Pours orange amber with a thick beige head and a floral aroma. There is a medium-bodied pale malt flavor serious hop bitterness. A bit unbalanced.

22 oz bottle poured and split. Pours a cloudy orange color with a big foam head and lace. Really nice hop forward aroma. I love how they say it’s good for after walking the dog, as I just did. Flavorful bitter hops. Not a typical winter ale in my opinion. Super hoppy imperial. Can’t complain. Good stuff.

This is exactly what you want from a Winter Ale. Robust hop character and a worthy amount of alcohol (pun intended).

Poured from the tap. Clear, light copper orange with off-white head. Some bitter peel and resin hops with very minor bready malts. Not a lot else going on.

Draft - Grapefruit hops. Clear gold with a decent white head. Earthy hops, bit boozy and some spice. A bit of heat on the throat. Not particularly great.

On tap at St Augustine’s, pours a clear orange amber with a small beige head. Aroma is fairly light, with bready malts and light caramel. Flavour is quite bland, with bready malts, some boozy medicinal notes, and light caramel. Very boring and unadventurous. Not a whole lot to this one.

Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Hazy deep golden amber with a fluffy off white head that leaves thick and sticky lace. Visually and aromatically it could pass for an IPA. Fruit in the aroma is rich and plentiful. First sip also is full of citrus fruit. Bitterness is low. Something hard to identify, too. Maybe agave? I never quite IDed what was underneath all the hop based fruit. Malts were kind of nondescript. At the finish this never quite "popped" like I had hoped.

Shared with Strkyzone on Facebook Chat. Pours a clear copper with a good sized and long lasting beige head. Great lacing. Nose of caramel malts with citrus and ripe stone fruit. Medium body. Resinous mouthfeel. The flavor brings lightly roasted malts, all kinds of hop flavors with citrus dominating, and a lot of bitterness. Dave asks not why not an IPA? Good question. But there is something going on here not usually found in an IPA. Interesting and quite flavorful ale. The back end is bitter almost like grapefruit rind and with the fruit and some spiciness in a dry resinous finish. Lots to like here in a very tasty beer.
