Growler from ale yeah. Pretty tasty drunk. Smooth with a nice roasty malt and cocoa flavor. Finish has a touch of pepper and grass. Aroma is clean and you can get a sense of the roastiness about to come.

Pours opaque coffee brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma has a strong overtone of wood and molasses, plus earthy, roast malt, and semi-sweet chocolate notes. Flavor has firm notes of alcohol-soaked wood, semi-sweet chocolate, toasted malt, molasses, and mild chili peppers. Firm body has plenty of strong fizz. Worth a hot pursuit!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: Very dark brown, near black body with a slim, sandy head. Thin, glass-coating lace.
Smell: The aroma is led by a green, vegetal chile quality, then, some sugary-hinting dark chocolate syrup, roasted malt and coffee.
Taste: As with the nose, vegetal chile upfront. Dark chocolate, roasted malt (scantly astringent). Licorice, phenolic spiciness. Citrus, lightly resinous, its hop bitterness tangled together with the pepper spiciness and alcoholic heat. Slight dark chocolate quality, with a bit of sweetness sustains throughout the spicy, warm, bitterish finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: They had me right up until the Serrano chiles part. Still, I will say it’s very, very good for a chile beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Mild chili aromas. Plenty of chili presence up front that lead to the Mexican chocolates and dark roasted malts. Good body and mouthfeel.

Nice toasty malt I’d backed up by pepper fruit, but doesn’t have an unpleasant heat in finish. Aggressive beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Definitely a kitchen sink brew, somewhat searching for an identity. Pour is burnt umber with small mocha head. Aroma is mostly chocolate and vegetal chile notes with an undercurrent of pithy hops. Taste is quite layered with chocolate on top of slight bitterness on tip of warming chile heat on top of caramel malt. Finish is long and war alcohol definitely prevalent. Overall an interesting an fun beer. It perhaps trying to do too much all at once.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap in a flight from Ale Yeah! Pours dark brown, with a small, tan head. The aroma is caramel, cinnamon, green chilies, and some light milk chocolate. Very sweet, boozy, and light, chalky bitterness. The chili spiciness is mild, but leaves a pleasant warmness in the finish. Heavy body, chalky, and sticky. Overall, this is a thick, flavorful beer. The chilies add a nice veggie flavor and good spiciness, without being overbearing. Very nice!
