4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ChainGangGuy (4132) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAR 13, 2012The ole beer board on the wall currently lists this second batch of Colin’s Wee Heavy Scotch Ale as being 7.7% ABV.
Appearance: Dark brown body with a slim, short, essentially white head.
Smell: Fresh plum, maybe even black cherries neatly tucked into notes of brown sugar, smoked sea salt caramels, and toasted bread crusts.
Taste: Deep, richly toasty malts topped with dark brown sugar and giving an incredibly faint roast. Invitingly sweet throughout. Deep plum fruitiness. Well-integrated smokiness. Very faint hop character, near nil bitterness, never putting up much competition for the sweet malts. Smooth, malty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: A succulent malt-forward brew with flush of fruit and a subtle smoky edge to it.
