On tap at the brewpub. Thin black pour with ruby hue. Mild chocolate and cane sugar notes in the nose. Fair bodied, slightly silky with mild coffee notes. Fairly sweet of sugar cane in the finish.

Comes out of the tap a deep sable just a scratch above obsidian - not much head, but that must be an artifact of the pour Robust aroma has roast malt, licorice, caramel and molasses tones. Lip-smacking flavor has a roast malt core and firm notes of licorice, caramel and horehound plus a snip of molasses. Texture, though, is only average, though it has plenty of tingle and a nice smoky finish. Definitely worth sowing your wild oats - and oatmeal.

Dark brown pour with ruby hints and creamy head and lace. Large coffee with a hinto chocolate aroma. Burnt coffee with a light chocolate and a medium hard malt bitter. A hinto earthiness in there as well.

A bit more roasty and full bodied with a nice cocoa texture. Milk chocolate flavors roasted coffee aroma. Nice drink for a straight up porter.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with an earthy dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces nicely. Aroma has a good amount dark grain with a decent amount of roast that is complimented by dark chocolate. Flavor is similar with light roast up front that mellows to allow dark chocolate, grains and a bit of dark fruit to come out with a smooth finish.

Appearance: Served up a very dark brown body with an amber tint at the edges and an inch of pillowed, beige foam.
Smell: Chiefly roasty though still not overly so, with accompanying notes of mild coffee, dark chocolate powder, scant fruit, and a leafy hop presence.
Taste: As with the nose, there’s a sufficient roastiness with lightly sweetened coffee, cocoa, toast, (light) dark fruitiness, and caramel. The additional ingratiating tastes drop off as the roastiness continues onward (and upward). Leafy hops with a modest bitterness. Dry, roasty, lightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: An acceptable oatmeal porter.
