50cl swing top bottle. Pour almost clear pale golden colour with a huge good lasting white head. Aroma of dry and grainy pale malt. Taste of grainy malt, mild floral hops, some fruits, nice!

Terrible zoigl... definately too much hops for such a beer. Also too filtered. Not recommended.

TAR (2628) - Marshall (Asheville area), North Carolina, USA - DEC 27, 2015
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2015 Bottle best by Mar. 16, 2016: Golden in color with minimal haze. Creamy but nonuniform head. Clean but simple nose of minerals, lemon, hay, baguette and piecrust. Loose carbonation. Thinnish body. Initially toasty with fairly vibrant pils malt which distributes a profusion of baguette and hay notes underscored by deeper cookie accents. Malt takes on a grassy hay dimension which echoes the grassy hop aspects. Lemony splash of well-integrated hops ensues, though a noticeable waxiness as well as an intrusive slickness negates much of the hoppy brightness. Lemon, hay and vague toast encompass the basic but mostly clean finish. It’s nice to see that this brewery is actually trying rather than simply exploiting the word "zoigl" for monetary purposes, like so many other charlatans are doing with their fraudulent bottled product. No obvious off notes found here, but it certainly doesn’t possess the character that you’ll encounter in most of the stuff produced at the kommunbrauhauses, nor does it exhibit the depth of character found in their Dunkles Zoigl. Tastes more like Franconia than Oberpfalz, but it’s still an enjoyable lager.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2013 Bottle @ Oberphalz. Pours Golden with a small White head. Fruit, orange , bread and grain. Some more hops would have done it good. Medium bodied. Quite decent. Bottle @ Windisch. Cloudy golden. Corn, grain and dust. The bottle I brought home was much better. I let the highest rating stand.

It’s hazy orange-golden with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, bread and fruit. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of caramel, fruit, malt and bread - and the finish is slightly dry. A beer that almost drinks itself - lovely, but not stunning...
