3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: Dark copper with ruby highlights. Frothy white head, which doesnít last. Effervescence visible.
Aroma: Toasty nutty caramel, clove or cinnamom and some prune or raisin in the background.
Flavour: Not too much depth in terms of the malt profile, but some sweetness that is a little cloying. Could either do with some more roasty flavours or some more hop bitterness to balance the sweetness. Definitely hints of Christmas fruit cake or pudding.
Mouthfeel: Not as much body as I was hoping for, but I may have been expecting something more akin to a porter. finish is quick with a slight warming aftertaste (but not something that makes me want to drink a case of it!)
Overall: As a big fan of the Wychwood guysí beer, a bit underwhelmed with this. The Hobgoblin Reserve is a better option.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
bottle from Sainsburys at the folks - Brown/dark amber pour with small off-white head. Malty sweet fruits, caramel, lots of spice, but strange overpowering taste smell we can't quite place it, but we all agreed it wasn't nice, dodgy bottle maybe (was well within date though)

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 500 bottle. Pours a clear but dark brown with burnished red highlights and a small off-white head. Aromas of cinnamon, dark fruit, caramel and nutmeg. The taste shows soft fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, orange, ripe banana and burnt sugar. Body is a bit thin for the style. Sweet and spicy aftertaste. Not bad but a bit muddled.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Oh, bah humbug and all that. Must be the season of cranky olí farts. But hold on, itís still November and this seasonal is well and truly premature. And at a watery 5.0% ABV, I canít say its seated anywhere near the original. At just on cool it produces up a deep, ruddy copper, radiant and bright. Sloppy dollop d loose suds does its best to last the length. A hint of toffee, boiled apples, tomato juice, cinnamon and leavened dough dominate the nose with just a tad of nannaís front garden giving it a floral edge - the tomato is undeniable. Soapy, watery, subtley spiced but what is there lingers well. Muddle of malt with an oh so faint floral hop note late giving it just a pledging zest.. Buttery, diacetyl slickness. Touch of plastic. Not good! (50cL, BB 01/09/14, Liquor Baronís Ocean Reef)

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Initially there was a nice spicy aroma but where did it go? Still, a sweet cinnamon and vanilla but itís more faint. Dark amber body. Taste is banana and vanilla with a bit of hoppiness but a touch metallic as well. Okay beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours reddish, brown with a thin head. Smells like boiled sweets, subtle cough sweets perhaps. Tastes of dark fruits marinated in cinnamon. As previously mentioned there is a slight banana taste but also faint liquorice, even a bit of dessert wine. Definitely Christmas cake. Very chewy, moreish or in short, Christmas in a bottle. Well done Wychwood, an absolute delight.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not bad... Probably the most flavorful of a mediocre line of beers. Notes of cinnamon and bubblegum and some weird sweetness.. Maybe itís a British Christmas aroma. Flavors are sweet and malty albeit watery. Decent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Deep copper with a thin white head. The sweet malt and cinnamon spice combine to produce a slight kola cube aroma, also hints of fruit cake. The spices are nicely understated and balanced with the malt. Mouthfeel is quite thin. More HoHoHo than Bah Humbug!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from the supermarket, nose has spices, a little chocolate and a touch of pear drops, dry is dry and burnt caramel, a bit thin, but with honeyed undernotes and yes, maybe a faint hint of banana.
