3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The art really luring me in, I bought two bottles of these. The first I had alone on Christmas Eve, really trying to get into a miserly "Bah Humbug" sort of deportment. It was unremarkable, but here goes the review of the second. I always find Wychwood beers to be quite handsome, this being no deviation. Ruby copper with an off white cap that coats the glass, brown bread, caramel, subtle spices and hints of leather form the scent. One sip marks a big cinnamon and ginger blast, some flowery hops, light fruitcake full of candies and breadiness. The body is where this brewery’s beers seem to suffer and Bah Humbug, this one does too. A watery feeling I can’t get past, especially in something that I wish had some full feel to back it up. This is definitely drinkable, even enjoyable in a strange tasting way, however I would refrain from repeat wassailing with this one.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle. Pours a clear ruby/caramel with a thin, off white head. Aroma has notes of bread, caramel, fruity yeast esters, and hints of spice. Taste balanced. Bread, caramel, a touch if vanilla, cinnamon. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall ok but not really my thing.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a clear reddish brown. Nose is full of spice, cinnamon no doubt. Taste i s similarly dominated by earthy cinnamon flavour. Very festive, would go well with fruitcake. Fits the season well, but the spice is a bit too much for me, I wouldn’t drink more than one.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Sainsbury’s
Fruity and sweet on the nose.
Has a typical Wychwood taste about it that crosses all of their range- in terms of the maltiness. Then comes a fruity, winter, dark fruits taste-only light though. After a strong, synthetic banana taste. For those in the UK (don’t know if those in US get these sweets) think Foam Banana’s. Then back again to the light biscuit malt. Not bad, nice in a session but the abv at 5% could be a bit high for some in a session.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Beautiful red colour and a malty, hoppy aroma makes this beer a really appealing one. Malty taste continues but there’s fruity notes as well, makes it a more complex flavour and one that is much more drinkable than other fruity beers. A nice drink, recommended.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 500ml. Clear ale with a red hue and a small off-white head. Aroma is very bready with malt, caramel and yeast notes. Cinnamon notes extremely subtle, no banana. Taste is sweet with very light bitterness of English hops. Carbonation is subtle on the palate and the texture feels watered down. One of Wychwood’s better ales but still rather bog-standard.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle received as a gift. There's a nice feel of mulled spices here - very warming - a little thin perhaps but still tasty
