500ml bottle from Morrisons. Pours opaque dark brown, near black, thin tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, lift coffee notes, some fruitiness. Taste is light roast bitter, light fruit sweet. Reminded me a bit of Fullers London Porter. Nice.

Bottle from Oddbins. Appearance - opaque black with a big fluffy head. Nose - chocolate orange with a slight booze back note. Taste - dried fruits and chocolate. Elements of mince pie going on. Gentle roast bitterness on the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall - nice Porter!

Bottle. Black body with medium creamy tan head. Aroma has toffee, caramel, light coffee, buttery, pretty balanced. Taste has high roasty bitterness, almost astringent, tard coffee sweetness. Long lasting bitterness. Body is medium, watery, medium to low carbonation. Not so bad.

Bottle, 500ml. Pours really black, with a small beige head. Aroma of strong dark malt, sweet. Body is light, with watery mouth feel and light carbonation. Tastes bitter at first, then slightly sweet and ends bitter with light sweetness. Flavor is heavily roasted, dark malt, almost smokey, bitter herbal hops, lightly sour, mellow sweetness. Some dark roasted coffee, caramel, and more malt. As the beer warms and you get used to itís taste, it becomes less bitter and more sweet with caramel notes, body feels lighter and less malt and hoppy flavors. Interesting beer, quite light and nicely bitter, without being unpleasantly so. Develops new flavors as it warms. Sadly, the body is extremely light and watery, and the flavor is mostly of dark malt and roasted grains.

as always this brewery delivers. Nice dark brown almost black wi a tan, lacy lasting, frothy head. Smells of dark berries, roast, coffee and bit of acidity. Sweet initial taste of berries with a roast middle and coffee burnt finish. Dry on he touch, a bit thin and too much carbonation. Nonetheless a good Porter and nice to drink

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a quite dark brown with orange tinge and an average-sized, dense light tan head. Aroma is roasty with dusty cocoa and nuts. Flavour is reasonably roasty with lots of chocolate, nuttiness and a bit of earthy character. A little lingering roast in the finish. Nice.

Pours nearly black with hints of ruby around margins, two fingers of beige medium-density head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is muted, roasty malts and coffee, faith dark fruit. (6/10) Taste is mild sweet, moderate lingering bitter. (7/10) Light to medium body, moderate to low sustained carbonation, decent bitter finish. (4/5) Continuing with the Halloween theme for the evening. And actually, not bad at all. A little confusion as to whether this is a porter or a stout - it seems like the description used to be a "Spellbinding StoutĒ, but now itís "A Dark Mysterious Spellbinding PorterĒ. Well, either way, itís a decently bitter dark beer with a little dark malt sweetness. Body is definitely thin for a stout, and actually on the thin side for a porter, but overall itís fairly drinkable. (12/20)
