Pours black with ruby edging and a tan head. Strong chocolate aromas, with dark malt and a touch of coffee. Tastes incredibly dark and rich - dark roasted malt, a little burnt, rich coffee flavours and a hint of dark chocolate. A bitter finish, a little fizzy on the palate but very smooth otherwise. Nice, very nice.

Bottle. Pours clear dark reddish black, large tab head, looking lasting with nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, dark sugars. Flavor is medium sweet, fairly bitter, a bit harsh, lots of caramelized sugars. Lightish body, high carbonation.

Pours very dark with slight tn head which lingers. Aroma is licorice, roasted malt, slight dark fruit, coffee and a note of chocolate. Taste is a little more one dimensional, straight out bitter with a hint of sweetness. A little thin feeling in the mouth but certainly drinkable. A nice enough beer!

500ml ; Shaker pint glass. Nose of lactose , burnt licorice , burnt sugars ,dark chocolate ,ink. A khaki head above abyss black beer. flavours suggest notes of smoke , oil, syrupy chocolate , muddy soil , dry roast bitterness . Its pretty simplistic and easy to drink.

Bottled gifted from a good friend. Overall a dry bitter porter. Almost pitch black color, beige soapy head that vanished quickly. The aroma starts good with a sweet chocolate pudding scent. The taste is dark chocolate and bitte cocoa finishing in a very dry bitter taste that is for me not so pleasant. My mouth feels after a while very very dry. I do not like that. It does not want you to drink more of it. Too bad. Maybe I am not used to this kind of porter.

Bottle, 0.50l, shared with David. Pours pitch black with medium frothy light brown head and fair lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, caramel with light smoky hint. Taste starts with moderate sweet roasted malt, follows by chocolate and licorice, while finish is light bitter. Light to medium body, creamy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Neatly designed bottle with very decent content...

this beer is quite smooth and quaffable. another that i think poured via cask and fresh would be more enjoyable. just ok as a bottle in the states. nothing wrong with it, just a touch boring.
