2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at the Green Man in the City, brown with a lacing head and nice malty and herby nose. A little tasty sweet golden fruit and burnt toffee initially, but a bit acrid in the finish. Needs more work.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Fairly bland, although rather quaffable bitter. Could probably do with some more crystal etc. malts.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On cask, poured into a nonic. The aroma is initially tropical but turns floral and citrus like with some cotton candy notes late. The beer is oily looking with a deep, brilliant caramel shade and a dense, whipped, off-white head that has moderate retention and lace. The taste is a medium bitter and medium sweet combination. The beer is oily and slick in texture with a flat-ish fuzz for carbonation. The medium body has a bright, waxy orange and citrus membrane quality with other floral notes. The finish is syrupy with a zesty and floral herb zip that turns somewhat burnt and leaves an aftertaste that’s mostly floral with light orange, and light burnt sugar notes that are dry and slightly sticky.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask at Ye Old Elm Tree, Durham, £3.30/pint.
Deep amber/copper beer with thin, white head and visible carbonation. Nose is floral with soap, lavender and parma violets. Citrus comes through strong in flavour on a puckering dry palate but there’s an underlying soapy, butterscotch sweetness. Different to many citrusy ales out there at the minute but it doesn’t quite work for me.
