floydian1 (255), FNQ, Australia Oct 6, 2009 500ml bottle into pint glass. Appears with a hazy amber body and a smallish off white head showing good retention and lacing. Nose is faint caramel, oranges and light floral hops. Palate is medium bodied and smooth with a light fruity hop bitterness to the finish. Rather lacks the malt base and hop presence of the best English bitters/ESBs in my opinion. Pricey Down Under as well. Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Sep 29, 2009 Sampled at Lundeen’s Brew Ha-Ha 2009. Pours a clear yellow-orange color with a small white head. Aroma is overall pretty light with notes of caramel malt, light grainy hints and some toasted malt notes. A light flowery hop and some grape and apple sweetnees. Flavor is overall pretty sweet with a very light grainy note and a floral and grassy bitter bite at the end. Not as bitter as I would expect from the ESB style but still a decent brew. JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Sep 13, 2009 Pours a slightly hazy orange, with off-white head. Fruit, sweet malt, grain, hay, hops, and a hint of spice. Decent ESB, just not overly interesting. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Sep 9, 2009 Bottled. Orangeish amber colour with with mediumsized creamy beige head. Aroma is floral hops along with grass, wood and some mild fruits. Also some bready malts as well as mild caramelly notes. Flavour is being quite much the same, with caramel malty notes being more evident. Quite bitter and grassy finish. Ober (1158), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Aug 26, 2009 A clear orange/amber colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of hops, with some malts, fruits and grassy. The taste of dry fruits, notes of caramel with some bitter. The aftertaste is bitter with some sweet. gunnar (486), Sandnes, Norway Aug 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours amber with a good sized off-white head. Moderate malty aroma with some hops as well. Light roasted malts, caramel and spiced hops in the taste. dry mouthfeel. JohnC (2227), Mission Viejo, California, USA Aug 14, 2009 I had this at a session ale tasting. Dry, crisp without a whole lot else going on, this was a bit bland. Cirrhosis (607), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jul 29, 2009 Clear dirty copper body with a thick crown leaving behind sticky roapy lacing. Aroma is malty and smooth with elements of strawberry ice cream, rotting leaves, and sweet toffee. Nice taste lightly roasted malts with a crisp bitterness in the finish, that strawberry ice cream I smelt also lingers in the after taste ( I know strawberry ice cream is not correct I just don’t know what ells to call it) Earthy hops can be tasted in every sip making this a descent tasting ESB. I like this beer for the style but I’ll probably never by it again because this style rarely ever interests me.
