Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Jul 28, 2004 Bottle from Threshers, Marlow, Bucks. 500ml. Average bottled bitter, quite pleasent but no bottled bitter is actually good. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark Jul 16, 2004 (on bottle)Would have been a medium-rated bitter if all the promises of the commercial discription had been held. But both if aroma and aftertaste, the "citrus", for me tend to be very acidic and unplesant. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2004 Pours straw with a medium white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, hops, and peat. Tastes malty, fruity, slightly dry, with hints of watermelon, scotch, and chardonnay at the finish. Very complex. I think this one is very under-rated, and I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that the British crowd rated it 0.5-1.0 points higher than their American counterparts. Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 16, 2004 Limpid amber body with a thin but dense bubbly head. Pleasant malty nose with some fruity (raisin, citrus apple) notes. Good hoppy flavor with some hints of caramel, malt and spices. It ends with a honest bitter final. Not bad at all... beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Jun 8, 2004 pretty good overall, enjoyable flavour and a cool looking bottle even though clear glass probably isnt a great idea. shrubber85 (2836), Wallhalben, Germany Jun 4, 2004 Not quite as good as Hobgoblin but still an enjoyable ale. Does not have a strong flavor - a bit mild but still enjoyable. MrBeerUSA (40), HorseShoe, North Carolina, USA Jun 2, 2004 This tastes like the fiddlers piss after he boiled his elbow and drank it! Yuck!!!! PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 22, 2004 Ice tea colored pour with a slight white head that dissipates quickly. Slight toffee and citrus in the aroma - unaffected by the clear bottle as far as I can tell. Has a bit more character than other Wychwood offerings - a bit more oomph to the mouthfeel with some chewiness. Note some burnt caramel offerings with a back end of spearmint and citrus. Quite a tasty combination. This would make a great sipping ale in an English pub I imagine, finishes strong. The more English beers I have, the more I enjoy their subtle qualites, this one included.
