2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Nuffield (3347) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - MAY 31, 2002My reaction was definitely that this beer emphasized the citric sourness that its commercial description suggests. It went down easy, but lacked complexity beyond that initial hint. There was a moment when drinking this that I had a vague hint of cumin. Generally, like other Wychwood’s I’ve tried, it sits too limp in the mouth. (on tap at Hobgoblin [Wychwood Pub], Oxford)

This English pale ale is different than American pale ales. It poured a medium brown color with a slight what I would call toffee scent. Upon tasting it had a bold toffee flavor. No bad aftertaste, definitely well made but not an everyday type of beer. Something nice to try.

Bouteille 500ml.

Bottled, seemingly not the freshest. Golden and clear without much sign of a head; slightly caramel aroma with dried flowers; firm texture light on the fizz; not a whole lot going on with a mild bitterness

Mediocre take on the style. A decent amount of alcohol. Caramel and dirt flavor. Some grass and honey. Medium bodied.

500ml bottle pours a golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that disappears quite quickly leaving only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with some light citrus. Taste is dominated by a caramel malty sweetness with a mild citrus hop presence in the finish. An ok brew, but needs more hops to be up to par with the better ESB’s out there.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Metalchopz (1741) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 15, 2012
Originally rated June 2004. As always, great looking label on a clear 500ml bottle, from Wychwood brewery. Poured a nice golden-orange with an average head. Had citrus aromas and taste, with a light bitterness. Also, hints of apple. Not bad, but prefered Hobgoblin from this brewery.

’The last night of the Proms’ is on the television, so what better beer to watch it than Fiddlers Elbow?
Brown 500ml bottle, best before March 2008, drank Sept 2007: poured into one of my Franziskaner Weissbier glasses, well it is brewed with wheat.
Light red in colour, an orange hue to it, sparkling and clear with bubbles ripping through towards the full, half-inch thick off-white head.
The aroma is all about sweet caramel, very strong in deed.
The taste is a bit of a let down, caramel flavours, but not much else. As the beer warmed some lemony, citrus notes did arrive and the sweetness gave way to a tartness I didn’t take too.
I have had this beer on draught (cask) and it was a lot better than this bottle. A strange beer to review, fairly weak mouthfeel, but there is something there, difficult to explain, my vocabulary obviously isn’t up to describing it.

Poured a cloudy golden color from the bottle. Aromas of malt, bread, anise, and some bubblegum. Flavor is the same, with some yeast in the back end, interesting beer overall.

16.9 oz bottle pours hazy amber with a white head. Aroma and taste of sweet malts and a bit of yeast.
